norbold 7,108 Posted February 23, 2004 (edited) West Ham 1. Bluey Wilkinson 2. Arthur Atkinson 3. Bjorn Knutsson 4. Sverre Harrfeldt 5. Jack Young 6. Aub Lawson 7. Ken Mckinlay Would go a long way to better that team! I was thinking about a West Ham team which I was going to post on here. Amazingly, it is exactly the same team, CHK! norbold 7,108 Posted February 23, 2004 Yes. Might consider Olle Nygren instead of Gerry Hussey, but otherwise... What about Belle Vue: 1. Ivan Mauger 2. Ove Fundin 3. Peter Craven 4. Jack Parker 5. Peter Collins 6. Eric Langton 7. Jason Crump Beat that!
Custom House Kid 45 Posted February 23, 2004 Yes. Might consider Olle Nygren instead of Gerry Hussey Or perhaps Sprouts Elder? For B Vue what about C Maidment ? Though would be hard pushed to get in your side!
norbold 7,108 Posted February 23, 2004 (edited) Don't think Sprouts Elder ever rode FOR West Ham. He was their entry in the 1929 Star Riders' Championship but star riders weren't allowed to ride in the league. After that he went off to Southampton. Given recent literary developments, I guess I ought to have a go at an all time Norwich team... 1. Ove Fundin 2. Aub Lawson 3. Bob Leverenz 4. Bert Spencer 5. Billy Bales 6. Olle Nygren (he gets around a bit!) 7. Max Grosskreutz Edited February 23, 2004 by norbold

whowasthatberntpersson 108 Posted February 24, 2004 B.PenhallE. Gundersen G.Hancock B.Hamill B.Persson J Pedersen I Brown I think even i could be team manager of that lot That team is more recent than others that have been mentioned too. Then there's the likes of Simon Wigg and to a lesser extent John Boulger and Anders Michanek all world class. In the last 30 years i reckon a fantasy team made up of Heathens would take some beating. Belle Vue look tasty over a longer period though.
norbold 7,108 Posted February 24, 2004 Belle Vue look tasty over a longer period though. And that's without Max Grosskreutz, Bill Kitchen, Louis Lawson, Ron Johnston, Soren Sjosten, Chris Morton.......Stop!
NathanB 4 Posted February 24, 2004 Im relatively young (20) so cannot remember back in the days of the 60s but how about a Kings Lynn team Tony Rickardsson Jason Crump Leigh Adams Mark Loram Henka Gustafsson Terry Betts Michael Lee and probably a lot more who i cant think of at the moment
sandman 0 Posted February 25, 2004 that team would be hard to beat, son.. i think you win the hooligan prize so far..depth and talent. great mix of new and old..
iris123 20,978 Posted February 25, 2004 would be interesting to work out the averages for some of these teams, using the riders best year!

Tony Rickardsson, Jason Crump, Phil Crump, Ronnie Moore, Ivan Mauger, Bruce Penhall and Mark Loram? only the old ones will agree on this.. consistent, team players, not hot and cold although depending on which, some like Mauger, and Phil Crump were prone to great meetings and terrible ones..still good balance between talent and getting stuck in..would be hard to beat even today... of course i did not take into consideration a huge clash of egos..i would pay good money to see them have a coin toss for gate positions.. heh heh.. norbold 7,108 Posted February 26, 2004 Here are mine.. Tony Rickardsson, Jason Crump, Phil Crump, Ronnie Moore, Ivan Mauger, Bruce Penhall and Mark Loram? Er...this is supposed to be about which one club could field the strongest team. I don't think all those riders rode for one team.
