Unforgettable Speedway Names

Recommended Posts

Didn't Odd Fossengen ride for Glasgow at one time. Then there was Shorty Shirmer and Nigel De'ath.

Arne Pander. Remember Kid Bodie, Soren Sjosten, Split Waterman. Their are some fantastic names and they were all great entertainers.

Steve Hone who could forget him!

Someone has mentioned Raymond Humphries already aka Tyburn Gallows in the years gone by section it does say how he got the name. Changed by deed pole as he was the last apprentice hangman at Tyburn.

Not forgetting: Slider Shuttleworth, Maximilian Octavius Grosskreutz, Crasher Coxhead, Hurricane Hampson, and Crazy Hutchins of course

James Moore, New Zealander who rode for cradley and Oxfors in the late 70's?

What is so special about that I hear you ask?

Because his full name was...James Timy Te-Kerehi Herini-Moore.

Only tenuously linked but I had a lot of time for the person who named their racehorses Betty Swallocks, Mary Hinge and Cunning Stunt respectively. (trained by Julie Cecil in the early 90's I believe)
