Poole V Birmingham 1st Leg Grand Final

Recommended Posts

The key for me will be Bomber. If he produces his best, I fully expect Brum to go close or even win at Poole...

On that thing called a race track, that actually looked pretty dangerous last night, Poole will probably have enought to win the home leg, though Harris, Doyle and King and a fit Barker are more than capable of taking points off of Hancock and Ward. The problem Poole have is there tail is way to long away from home. The key is Jonasson and Janowski 2 total enigmas who could get 9 or 4. We know Josh, Tungate and Dyer are hardly going to get anything away so its up to the Brummies to keep it tight.

So who do we want to win?

The team that have had the same 1-7 all season and won matches fair and square.

Or the team that, due to an injury to Ward, were able to............

1. Strengthen by bringing in Pawlicki Jonasson and Josh for 2 awful Poles.

2. Make sure their riders had mysterious injuries on Mondays at tricky away matches like Eastbourne and Belle Vue so they could track a team of track specialists and gain away points.

3. Cancel a match against Lakeside just because they fancied it and stuff the rule book. Or apparantly it would have cost them money to do that ah bless. didnt stop them paying out big money for Hancock when it suited though!

4. Nothing more needs to be said about the Belle Vue match 'the heat ten stoppage' most disgraceful meeting witnessed not helped by the buffoon Middlo and that plank Ford and there double standards.

5. The luck Poole have had in the last few matches. No Karlsson for Lakeside. No Kildemand for Swindon. No Cook for Belle Vue and then injury to Hans didnt help Swindon.

Any controversy this season had involved Poole pretty much barring 1 or 2.

For the good of speedway and justice and advocating fair play come on the brummies!!

Oh and Shovlar Kildemand did cheat last night by staying down you are quite right. But i suggest you engage your brain before typing as Ward did exactly the same thing this season to get you a draw or a win but you were ok with that!! just shows what a complete......you really are

Poole only just managed to beat a team with 3 weak links last night , so I think Brummies will be a harder task , one thing for sure Brummies will, have almost all of British speedway supporters behind them .. go get em Bomber !!

I agree if Bomber shows form that it could be a close final over 2 legs depends what Agent Doyle has in mind !!!.i think Poole will nick it though.

But the Brummies beat a team who wee missing a 10 point rider and his replacements score 6 and 2. Tai would have been good for 20+ That 12 extra points for Wolves would have made it a lot closer. Are the Brumies that good? Covatti needs a better meeting thats for sure. Edited by SCB

Agent Doyle is a Swindon asset or is it anyone who has ever been involved with Poole!

No win situation for the sport this one.

One team that are there because of a dreadfully corrupt night at Belle Vue, and another that haven't paid a bill all year.

Interesting post that, I hope you know what your talking about or have a very good legal team to support your claims or maybe you have very deep pockets full of unwanted money, either way I wish you luck with your brave statement.

And that is the very definition of Slander (As well as being untrue!)

I dare you to come on sports-radio on Thursday and say to Alan Phillips face.

What about his Aussie connection !

So you only have to be Australian to be a Poole agent! Blimey that will be why Schlein didn't guest for Swindon.

What about his Aussie connection !

I think he threw his boomerang away..... or spat it out? I can't really remember which?! :D

In all seriousness, this final is a close one to call and can't be based on the league results as others have pointed out. Brummies have 5 riders who go very well at Poole, so I expect only a small points advantage for Poole to take to the 2md leg, when I feel Brummies will have the slight edge.

BUT, I thought that against Swindon too so who knows what can/will happen?!

I don't see that at all, have Birmingham ever failed to score less than 40 pts away this season.?

Just once unless I'm mistaken, unsuprisingly at the Eastbourne triangle.

I'm quite happy for people to write us off if they wish, they have been doing it all year, and some still don't seem to get not having an out and out number 1 is not a handicap if that strength is deployed elsewhere.

I agree if Bomber shows form that it could be a close final over 2 legs depends what Agent Doyle has in mind !!!.i think Poole will nick it though.

That agent Doyle that's now a Swindon asset you mean ? Jason doesn't answer to Master Ford anymore ;)

Can only beat what's infront of you, I think your doing the Wolves a disservice anyway as at full strength they would have been pretty close to Poole/Swindon performances.

It would be complete madness for Poole to go into this final being complacent of this spirited Brummie team and I honestly think it could go either way!?

Look where a bit of complacency got Swindon last night.

Are the Brumies that good?

Is anybody that good?

Brummies have carried Bomber all season and had Barker and Auty out-of-sorts for large parts of it.

Wolves started like a train, suffered with injuries and sub-standard replacements, and have limped to the seasons end.

Poole started terribly, 56 re-declarations later they made the play-offs but don't look bullet-proof.

Swindon had the best team on paper but Kennett was poor, had iffy reserves and been hurt by absences of key-riders.

It's a season that's had some interest due to the close nature of the league table but the fact that Brum, who started with an unfancied team and have carried their number 1, topped the table speaks volumes. It's not about who's been the best this season, but who has generally been least poor. FWIW I suspect Poole will beat us relatively comfortably over the two legs. We have a chance but it'll need everyone on top form on Monday.
