Rye House V Somerset - Ko Cup Final 2nd Leg - Sunday 06th October 2013 @ 2pm

Recommended Posts

Comment of the day came from announcer Craig Saul..."the birthday boy is enjoying his special day". This was in response to another Jason Doyle heat win. What Craig didn't know is that the birthday boy was extremely disappointed as he was very much looking forward to some fish, chips and mushy peas. To further compound his misery, he didn't think his lucky dip bag was worth a fiver. All this on his birthday too, poor Jason.

Enjoyed that, another good afternoons entertainment, well run and Doyle came through without a problem. In the last couple of days Ive seen two well run and presented meeting at the lower level.

Tomorrow I go to Poole and watch a meeting run by skytv.

Its a long way from Brum and a long journey home to have to get up in the morning and go to work, they sould take a look at the PL and NL in how to run a meeting and follow suit.

Well done to Somerset on winning the KOC.

Come on you Brummies.

Afternoon started off badly. The chippy ran out of fish over half an hour before the start time. Some good racing, Doyle superb as usual.

A horrific crash in the second half MDL final with two Belle Vue riders ploughing through the 4th bend fence at speed and getting up to walk away relatively unscathed. Who needs an air fence when we have the safest fence in British speedway?

Some interesting comments during the presentation. Much of what the riders said was more or less unintelligible due to the crappy PA system in the bar. Only Len Silver was clealy understood as everyone decided to hush up, except for Jason Bunyan, who barracked him about the track!

The announcement that the first meeting of 2014 will take place as late as 20th April, Easter Sunday, was surprising. Looks like the League Cup may be binned

No clues as to the make up of next years side, but I did get a "see you next year" from Anders Mellgren as we left the stadium. Jason Garrity said he hoped to be for for next year, so he's gotta be a cert.

It was also announced that attendances are slightly up on last year, so that's heartening.

That's nothing Shadders, the fish ran out an hour and twenty minutes before the start of the NLRC. Shocking!

I don't think they had any to start with! Well disappointed, good meeting though.

That's amazing, if it hadn't of been for the strong Somerset support today the crowd would have been absolutely woeful.

Well done Somerset. Awesome team and good support. Not sure they deserved a win on the day though. Morris's falls self inflicted and almost bought nelson a cropper. Pleased for their promoters and management too. We also should give thanks to Doyle and josh who have been great guests for us.

For us a strange season. Injuries again have killed it.

however A team including mellgren nelson garrity Pontus and Bunyan next year won't be far away. Sorry but for me Olly has been a very poor number one.

If we stay injury free ( for once) the good days will return. Bring on Lambert and a proper number one and we will be a good team.

Just one thing about crowds. It's fairly obvious that only so many teams can be truly challenging for honours and they will always see solid crowds. Those who are nt challenging will see crowds fall. Rye are no different. If we have a top team so crowds will increase irrespective of whether there is enough fish or not .

Injuries didn't kill it.

Silver starting with Simon Lambert in the side and about 3 points below the limit killed it. Oh and let's not forget the Garrity debacle for the second half of the season.

Another crap year down the bottom for Rye and it won't get better as long as Silver is in charge.

Top 6 will guarantee you a plaice at the top table Monarchs not happy with vissing so maybe he's a codtender for a team plaice. Eel have to do batter(Len that is)as I fear you cod be in for further batterings next year. Fans are not prepared to shell out their hard earned for the scallops they have served up to them. With all this carping its easy to see why the Rockets tend to flounder. Chip Silver is koi about bringing in Dave Mullett to strengthen his breen. Silver was also codsidering a dab on German rider Herr Ring and other possibilities on the team side are to sign are Hake Anderson, Jonas Prawn and the ex Monarch, Devil and Coventry Bee is suggested for inclusion but the thought of Fish at Rye House seems unlikely.

Surely the Somerset fans singing happy birthday would have taken his mind off the lack of fish. Made me think of egg sandwiches and trfle.

It's all relative but the sausages looked much longer today and only £1.70 a throw but they aren't really fish. Talking of fish I thought Nick Morris was worth more than his final total and why Jason Garrity wasn't allowed to ride just showed us yet again what a farce the rules are. We are told that it is important that all teams are equal and yet we had the weaker team today unable to use their own rider. Hardly equal and yet more proof that points limits should be consigned to history. The most important cup final in British speedway ruined by a team being unable to use their best rider.

What a prima donna Jez Pestell is. Fell with nobody near him yet appeals to get Shaun Tedman excluded. Lucky the referee wasn't impressed. Disappointed not to see more from Milton Keynes but made the trip home easier.

Couldn't see an Ivan Mauger T shirt but assume you may have been the guy with the comb over and body warmer. Would have said hello but thought you might have eaten me.
