Recommended Posts

Hi, following the AGM can or does anyone know the exact heat format for the coming season and the general rules for the meeting regards Tactical Substitutes, Reserve Rides & Golden Doubles.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks in advance.

From what I have read, the exact format and rules haven't been finalised yet.

To fit in with the need to save costs they are having one heat only, of sixteen laps, with 14 riders in it, then you do not need any TS,RR or GD, simples

Golden doubles/black and whites etc are on hold pending the outcome of TV negotiations.

On hold pending ???? They should have been torn out the rule book and thrown in the bin years ago.

this was the format in the BL in 1990:

1/2 v 1/2

6/7 v 6/7

5/4 v 5/4

3/6 v 3/7

5/4 v 1/2

1/2 v 3/6

3/6 v 5/4

2/7 v 2/7

5/4 v 3/6

1/2 v 5/4

3/7 v 1/2

1/4 v 3/5

3/5 v 1/4

6/7 v 6/7

nominated

in other words the old 13 heat formula + an extra reserve heat + hig scorers.

can't see much wrong with this tbh.

That race format would have to be re-jigged if the reserves are only going to race against each other and the opposite team's lowest second strings.

You would get races with 1 and 3 as they will not be racing against 6 and 7.

Depending on how it is enforced, we may well have to have fixed team spots. So, the highest average rider at 1, second highest at 2, etc. down to 7.

As the title says really but I just can't see how teams are announcing riders when they have no idea of how the heats of a race meeting are going to work.
