Elite Riders Championship - 25/09/2014

Recommended Posts

Absolutely ridiculous.

Then it wont be the EL Riders Championship.

Just move it prior to the Play offs at the end of the regular EL season and let the riders who WANT to ride in the EL compete for it.

It isn't the 'Elite League Riders Championship'!! Its renamed and abbreviated to 'ERC' with a new format - if you bother to read the announcement!!

Means the same thing. No reward for working hard all year and being your club`s representative in the big EL Championship of the year.

To be fair the interest has waned from the riders for years now so just dressing it up into something that is just an open meeting.

What a load of old tosh. If its the 'Elite League Riders Championship' then its open to the Elite league riders only.

If you want it to be a Open meeting then call it what you want, like Joe Blogs Invitation. But don't take the P....s out of the few supporters that are left......

If you want to feather the nests of some riders who can't be bothered to ride here, then so be it , but don't say its one thing and mean it's something else

Which bit of Skidder1 post is tosh. It is fact, it isn't the 'Elite League Riders Championship'. It is the 'Elite Riders Championship'. It's completely different and will be an invitational event.

You are the one that hasn't read it properly it says the Erc is back at Coventry after being staged at Swindon in recent years so what other event has been staged at Swindon of cause it means Elrc read it again on the Cov website

Yep, read it on the Coventry website and there's nothing on there that says it's the 'Elite League Riders Championship'. It says 'Elite Riders Championship' with a "changed format" which would suggest an invitational meeting. If it isn't an invitational meeting, explain why 'League' has been dropped from the title??

But it's not the 'Elite League Riders Championship' for 2014. It's called the 'Elite Riders Championship'.

Okay so why does it say the following on the Coventry website then if it is something completely different?

The ERC, last staged at Brandon in 2009, has traditionally been an end-of-season event and has been hosted by Swindon in recent years.

BANANAMAN....... Cant find a start time anywhere either ..Guess whose in it & guess what time its on !!

Patience, patience. There's still over two months to go and I'm sure there are a lot of riders to contact before the line up can be sorted out.

Because this new 2014 event has a new "format" and every press release has dropped "League" from the title. The only reason to do that is simply because it's become an Invitational meeting open to all

So how could the Erc be staged at Cov in 2009 if it didn't exist as stated in the press release

According to the Gp website it is the Elrc

The current format is dead in the water and an embarasment. Any change is better than what we have.

Top rider from each of the TEN Elite League tracks then SIX guests who are most likely ex EL riders who are looking for a few rides before the New Zealand GP. So the line up would be something like ......

BELLE VUE; Matej Zagar

BIRMINGHAM; Daniel King

COVENTRY; Hans Andersen

EASTBOURNE; Bjarne Pedersen

KINGS LYNN; Neils K Iversen

LAKESIDE; Peter Karlsson

LEICESTER; Jason Doyle

POOLE; Darcy Ward

SWINDON; Peter Kildemand

WOLVERHAMPTON; Tai Woffinden

GUESTS; Chris Holder

............... Nicki Pedersen

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Fredrik Lindgren

............... Greg Hancock

............... Martin Smolinski

............... Chris Harris

Certainly better than theend of season fiasco where a large number of riders are unavailable all of a sudden.

Would have Rory in it as well as won last year

Batchelor should be included and Kenny Bjerre so no room for 'guest' riders IMO!

If its an invitational meeting it might aswell be the Brandonapolis! I wouldn't mind maybe 2 or 3 invited riders but each club should be represented in this.

Like the idea. But I'd add bjerre (gp rider committed to the el) and schlein (2013 elrc champ), ahead of pedersen and hancock. Lindgren and holder deserving guests as have given good service to el, and obviously boost the standard of the field.
