Peterborough V Rye House 18 March Challenge

Recommended Posts

How did the crowd look compared to last years ? I think Dryml is going to be shocked at how strong the PL is. With many new tracks to visit and some really competive riders I think is going to be a lot tougher.

Dryml was disappointing. The crowd looked very good better than for any of my visits for the EL in the last few years

Probably a demonstration that its not a good idea to go into a competitive home match completely cold. Going to take a few meetings for a completely new team to get used to their new home track but they still look one of the stronger sides in the PL to me.

Rye could certainly shock a few.

Exactly my thoughts, a couple of challenges to settle everyone down.

Track was slick as a badgers rear end and certainly suited RH, but they were much better out of the traps than Panthers who looked rusty.

First meeting for Rye too so no disadvantage there. I still think that Panthers will have a good season but they may suffer from being a bit top heavy.

Clearly shows there's potential in the team. I honestly thought Boxall was going to be a big struggler this season from going national league to premier league heat leader and with Luke Bowen having a year out. But they've looked to both hit the ground running! But as you've said, it is early days and one meeting doesn't make a season. But if they can get Garrity going and maintain the standard set tonight, then Rye House could definitely be a force.

It's not that long ago Boxall was a PL No.1, so not that much of a surprise, if he's on decent machinery.

I wouldn't read too much into this result. Rye were probably strengthened by Bunyan's absence (still don't understand how a team can sign somebody and use R/R in official competitions, knowing he'd be missing) and riders are still 'blowing the cobwebs away.' It's just that Rye, apparently, blew them away quicker than the Panthers.

Still a long way to go until September/October!

"Peterborough Speedway Play the Rolling Stones"?

What average does Mick Jagger have? :P

Can only see a massive home win in this one! :P

not sure, but he gets a 30% discount for being an oap..wonder if someone wil ever appeal on this basis...might make a comeback by some fit veteran more attractive ( and i don't mean joanna lumley!)

seriously, doesn't anyone think it was a misjudgement last night, or am i being over-sensitive?

They suffered by having a slick track.

Blackbird, Jacobs and Greenwood aren't the problem at the moment.

Early season always throws up results like this, still all credit to Rye House on their win.

Maybe Rye are not going to be so weak after all, and Peterborough wont dominate the PL as some seemed to think they would.

Hardly, rider replacement rides for Bunyan only returned ONE point

Definitely an advantage for an away side to catch a home team completely cold. Not to take anything away from Rye's performance of course .

 So Bunyan would not have scored a single point?

I enjoyed my first meeting back in a long time and it was great to see the Rockets picking up what was a deserved win, even if Garrity seemed absent! It was also good to see a few familar faces again after so long!

Once this Panthers team get dialed in and get their motors sorted, I cannot see many teams going there and getting much. What did Boro fans think to the drop in standard, something you will get use to ?
