Sheffield V. Scunthorpe 10/04/14 Lc

Recommended Posts

I agree. The track man has been there years. They've put the money in for drains and shale. Short of doing it themselves what can they do? Same with the team. They've built a good team. We all know the team is good, unlike the last couple of years, but they failed to deliver last night for whatever reason. It's not ability so itust be mechanical or attitude. THATS where the promotion need to ask some questions . Hopefully it was a blip. The other thing is Scunthorpe are one of the best teams in the league on paper. They've started badly but unfortunately Auty hit form last night, and Ryan Douglas was just awesome! He didn't seem to mind the track! Just kept it wound on for 4 laps and passed our guys like they were stood still. A bad day at the office for Sheffield but I'm not slashing my wrists yet. The riders need to get their heads back on the racing and the Captain needs to lead from the front.

Who saw that one coming?

Great news for Scunny - maybe a few gremlins out of the way now although it was only one meeting. Let's hope for continuation of this form on Sunday.

For the Tigers - the fans seem very downbeat after one disappointing result although it does seem as though other factors played a part in their lack of enjoyment. I'm sure they will be OK going forward.

Speedway - don't you just love it!

Can't see Douglas being at reserve for long once the rolling averages kick in. He was without doubt my 'rider of the meeting' last night. Another Aussie following in the footsteps of Crump, Holder, Ward and all the others before them. Can see him putting at least 2.5 points on his average if he maintains that form.

hope our new promotion are listening because last night was a shambles and it wont take long to lose the fans we have gained

From what has been posted on this thread it appears the key man behind the new promotion (Mr Clifton-James to those in the know) thinks all was all right last night!

Please don't hesitate to tell me if I'm wrong, but if the track was unridable for heats one and two why did the the winner of heat one post the best time of the night by more than two seconds?

why was track dangerous to race on ...times seem ok???

Not for the first time at Sheffield (the infamous 2004 PLRC certainly springs to mind), it sounds like the track, especially in the earlier heats, had to be ridden aggressively because it was so grippy ... in those circumstances, you're bound to get a combination of quick times from the riders with good-enough aggressive skills to generate stacks of speed from all the grippiness and crashes/complaints from the riders who can't cope with (or don't like) such a track.

Either Howe or Jorgensen will be though. The way Scunny have built they are always going to have 1 strong reserve at least.

So everyone is complaining about how long the meeting took as a result of the track being unrideable and last week the air fence being fixed.

Jeez guys you dont half moan alot!

1. Would you rather the riders came out and injured themselves?

2. The air fence is there for a reason...

Call yourself fans? I suggest you all look in the mirror and remind yourselves you dont need to "waste" your money on the weekly speedway fix. Why dont you go to the casino next door and place a few bets instead?

To be honest with you, I can see this team going far as soon as the riders have had a few meetings to get there feet back on the ground. Your all acting like its half way through the season, when there has actually only been 2 home meetings so far!

How about getting behing the guys and cheering them on rather then moaning.

Talking to an ex rider the other day and fans seriously dont understand how hard it is for the riders to come out every week in front of you moody so called fans. Give them a break (and also the track staff)!!

Rant over!

Sheffield fan through and through.

Why round on fans who are just calling it as it is.Poor track preparation, poor racing, endless delays and poor presentation are the things that are killing the sport.Just because you support the team doesn't mean you are moaning if you don't like what you see,at least these "so called" fans care, many just take the easy option and walk away !

After steady was left for dead in heat 1 and andre messed up heat 2 the writing was on the wall. The best Thursday weather weve had so far and yet the track was soaked and heavy.Dissapointed to lose but lets make sure we get it right for the league.Lets hope the riders don't let it happen again. If they struggled Thursday on our track then I don't hold much hope for tomorrow as Newcastle is generally rough and ill prepared.Expect another tough meeting on Thursday with redcar hitting big numbers recently. After his kicking from Richard hall josh auty got his best score of the season, might be a good idea to get him to come and give our lads a kick too !!!!!!!!!!

I think as long as it is fair and constructive and non insulting then I think ti fair enough.

I think that what we have to realise as fans is that the Promotion has only been at the club for a matter of months and they will make the odd mistake or two, and I think that they will know in their heart of hearts that Thursday was not good, and will make every effort to improve.

The one thing that has impressed me about them is the way they do deal with their mistakes and listen to the fans, they have so far dealt with them swiftly without any fuss.

I am sure they will make a few more mistakes along the way, everyone does when things are new, but I like they way they handle themselves and I am confident that whatever the problem is they will deal with it.
