Premier League Pairs - Friday 11th July

Recommended Posts

Already getting excited about the Cardiff weekend?, just 8 weeks to go now and the annual Premier League Pairs once again takes its place on British Speedway's highlight weekend of the season.

At the moment looking like the 3 teams to unfortunately miss out on qualification could be Berwick, Rye House and Scunthorpe, with Ipswich next in line. Although still a lot can happen between now and the cut off point.

As ever it looks to be a very open meeting and if everyone is able to track their best pair come raceday, the likes of King/Robson, Cook/Masters, Fisher/Bjerre, Barker/Roynon, Proctor/Stead, Grajczonek/Bach and Morris/Allen all form teams of pure racers around a racers track, could actually be the strongest field we have seen for a while at PL Level.

Also, for those who are unable to attend, the Sky Sports website now confirms that the meeting will be broadcast live on Sky Sports 3 :t:

It wouldn't be rocket science to devise a draw and a KO formula to allow all Teams to have pair at the meeting also with the Fours.

OIt wouldn't be rocket science to devise a draw and a KO formula to allow all Teams to have pair at the meeting also with the Fours.

For the pairs it would be

2 groups of 4 1 group of 5 making 2x6 races +10 = 22 qualifying races in total

2 semi-finals and a final=total races 25 on the night.

Group winners and best runner-up to semi`s-best runner up would have to be decided on points gained against rides %

Downside of this is that at present all teams are guaranteed the same minimum of rides ie wages -something which couldn`t happen if all teams ride.

Don't think Rene will be part of our team for it, Josh and Ricky will be our two. I think the winners will come from either Cook and Masters, Morris and Allen or Stead and Proctor

Thing is when is the cut off and would new riders such as King, Klindt, Proctor and Roynon be allowed to participate?

18.4 PREMIER LEAGUE BEST PAIRS
18.4.1 Qualification will be determined by the BSPA and make the Riding Order draw.
So looks like the rules are as ambiguous as ever!

Was always my favourite meeting along with fours at Peterborough, yes my team are currently rubbish but i wont attend the pairs again until all teams are represented, not rocket science. So instead of a costly weekend it's a quick punt up and down the M4 and less money in the BSPA coffers.

Unfortunetely bach's form has been very patchy this season so can't see him making this meeting, shame really Koz think he would suit Somerset better than ricky wells

Pretty sure teams can pick 2 out of the top 3 riders on the greensheets-so Bach could still ride.

Edit should have got my Arson in gear quicker(see what I did there !!!!)
