Sgp Challenge Final Sat 20th Sept

Recommended Posts

Speedway Star meeting report says Nico Covatti was just one ride away from becoming the first Italian full time GP rider. C'mon guys, I have two words for you:

Armando Castagna

..it's not as if he's vanished into thin air

Maybe they misspelt Argentinian?

It's ridiculous to give local riders wild cards in this situation.they should go back through the qualifiers and pick next in line what if the other "local" had got through, also they are spoilers when really they should not be there.

Agreed. Do they have wildcards in the other rounds?

There are no wildcards in the qualifiers, but each race-off does have a wildcard.... Jurica Pavlic in Gorican and Adrian Miedzinski in Czestochowa.

Absolutly pointless, all riders should come through the qualiers and no wildcards should be given, and especially not two FMI riders as in Lonigo.

Fair play to Harris on the night, but he must have thought it was his Birthday when the rain made the track to his liking . Covetti could have caused severe embarrassment to BSI if Kildemand had not fallen and the race re-run

Track was certainly very different to usual at Lonigo after the rain

It was very friendly of Mads to slow up and let Jason back by after he miscounted

More complaints from Germany that the FIM don't know(maybe just don't follow)their own rules.Smolinski asked the DMSB and then the FIM why Harris was nominated instead of himself which he thinks should have been the case.He got no answer and in the end he was injured so wouldn't have been able to ride. But it does seem according to the headline that the FIM are repeat offenders after last year

The article is on speedweeks website. If there is any truth in the story no doubt it would also have been in the SS

Certainly there appears to be confusion and controversy every year. At least they cleared up this year the problem of the qualifiers from the semi`s by 7 from each qualifying. However whilst the FIM wildcard might have seemed a reasonable solution to the problem-for them to only come up with an Italian no-hoper was a joke. looking back at the semi results one can feel sympathy for Smoli as he won the race off for reserve at the Gorican semi whilst Harris won the race off for reserve(beating Berntzon) in Czestochowa-with both getting into the final when Bjerre and Dudek pulled out(qualifiers from Czestochowa). Surely both top reserves should be in line before one coming 2nd. Edited by racers and royals
