In fairness it has to be said that PK has had a lot of trouble getting his bikes to work properly this yea rand has even had Kelvin Tatum in the pits trying to help him sort them out so its difficult to say how much of the dip in scoring is due to the bikes and how much is due to the rider. The fact that he beat PUK last week says that some of the old magic is still there but he is clearly not the same hard-charging rider he was until recently. The sharp racing brain is still there though and he still pulls offs some astute moves simply by being on the right part of the track at the right time and his trade-mark cut-backs are still very much in evidence. Kauko Neiminen calls him the "Professor of Speedway" and that just about sums him up as he has probably forgotten more about the sport than most riders will ever know.

Very well put PK is all but unique in that he has remained a EL regular for many years while many others have deserted or flitted in and out of the league at their own convenience with little or no regard for British fans ,He may be having a dip for various reasons including age ( that is not my personal opinion) injury or machinery the latter being the reason IMO .The great give away when a rider is spent because of age is when they back off in the first turn ( this not remotely evident IMO) he still wants it and thats what matters. We should not wish PK away as he will be gone soon enough but for time being as has been said he can still show riders half his age a clean set of heels just needs to gets those engines sorted,

I think its more bikes than rider. All this nonsense of `past it` is hot air.

As soon as PK is past it he will have already retired.

It's probably just worth mentioning an interesting statistic from last Fridays Lakeside programme which is that up until 9th June PK had made the fastest time of the season at Monmore. Tai has since gone faster of course to break the record, but clearly as far as PK is concerned there appears to be life in the old dog yet, as long as his engines perform.

Edit : He has also made the joint fastest time of the season around Lakeside.
