Partly and Andre , both proven point scorers at Sheffield , would rather had Rich Hall and I dont like him than taken the gamble.

Is it not better to look to the future than watching more of the same old.

Not if you want to win.

Hopefully Sissis makes use of the practice facilities at Scunny and Kings Lynn and gets up to pace.

Why on Earth would you want to sign Wilson over sisiss? That's just crazy! Wilson is a 4/5 point man who will only get worse unlike sisiss who was tipped for the GPs before moving to the road racing. I know who I would rather sign!

I think I know what Oily is alluding to.

I think Ben can count himself unlucky not to get a team place this season at Sheffield as he does a job for the team that is a bit of a specialist role, and one that would be vital and helpful if we are to make Owlerton a fortress again.

Ben throughout his Sheffield career riding the number 2 riding position, and overall throughout his Sheffield career at home he has done this well and last season was no exception.

Last season for instance Ben rode in heat 1 on all 10 of his home appearances, 70% of those races he either had a paid win or won the race, which meant that on most occasions we invariably start with a heat advantage, and he beat some very good riders doing so.

He would have done a fine job, and with his fine home form he would have upped that average by the end of the season.

But the chance to sign a rider of the potential of Arthur Sissis is far to great to turn down, and I think that given the opportunity to sign was to great, yes there is an element of a gamble in the signing, but he is only 19 and still very young and for me the gamble is worthwhile taking.

But even so Ben would have done a very good job for the club, but I still think that the club made the right move to go with Sissis.

here we go again rumours regarding what riders do or dont get paid is a big part of speedway almost all rumours are not true but theres other things to take into account

a rider may get £50 a point but also get travel money and a start fee another rider may get £60 a point but no travel money or start fee so its never clear cut whos on a better deal

rumours regarding rider payments can be very damaging towards that riders reputation

Exactly, its interesting but not a jot of difference to me.

The main thing for me is that a rider wants to ride for Sheffield and all of the riders who have signed have publicly stated that so that is fine by me.

As to what they are paid or not paid is irrelevant.

Love all these rumours. "How much they paying you Arthur?" "Three and six a point Bruce" "Three and six? That's more than they were paying me!" And someone overhears and it's gospel.

I dont think the promotion is stupid enough to pay a newby more than a number one. But even if they were, consider this: if he's no good, then not many points multiplied by lots a point ( I call this the Covatti principal) means he ain't cost a lot.

If he's as good as they say then you've got another number one, you take the pain and sell him to Poole for £40k. Bingo!

Precisely.

if anyone truly believes the promotion should have picked Ben Wilson over Arthur Sissis then they must be mad, I'm guessing certain people on here must be connected to Ben in some way hence all the negativity about Arthur. everyone in the speedway world knows how good Arthur can be and i still can't believe he has come to speedway this is not just good for Sheffield but it is great for all the PL and speedway. yes he will need some time to settle in but I'm sure when he has, he will be banging points in for fun and like someone has said on here, he will then be Poole bound for a large sum which in turn will be a massive help to Sheffield. a great signing and a great investment IMO
