Is this not just a Business decision??

If a company see's commercial gain in investing in a sports team and they see a good tax relief and growth to there business then its a no brainer isnt it??

They had a sports team already on a level playing field (well perhaps not).

I'll be honest, I dont know the in's and out's of the Peterbough situation, but if its not a viable prospect to pump cash into then why bother?

Take love and passion for the sport out of it - If I was going to advertise (which lets face it, thats what this is) then id put my cash into a team or individual that i could see a return from?

I have a few sponsors for my business and they are only with me because of the exposure i can give them. When im not valuable to them they wont continue.

I was waiting for Tsunami to pop up, knew that it wouldn't be long before guru arrived. Without love and passion for the sport and a budget for advertising then British speedway would be the last place you'd look.

I agree with you to a point about it not being worth advertising in Speedway, and without knowing how much the deal is worth a year its difficult to pass comment, However for example if were talking 200k a year then that wouldnt go far advertising in national press so it may not be as silly a move as we all think. As title sponsor all the local rags as well as sky are obliged to use the teams correct name (in this case "Poole Readypower Pirates" so they will get a certain amount of exposure coupled with being able to write the cost off against there tax bill.

I love Speedway but also earn a portion of my living from it - I personally believe if more clubs in the UK ran there teams like a business then they wouldnt all struggle - Its a model that grass roots to pro motocross has learnt from and that is now more than ever a genuinely scaleable business - Sadly Speedway hasnt caught up!

I can see your/the logic, but as a Panthers fan whose seen an golden opportunity for our club wasted, I'm sure that you can appreciate that it's the act and not the technicalities that will stick in the throat and live in the memory for many.

Yeh of course - Its such a shame because you have a great track up there and plenty of scope for it to be a successful club, however if the sport isnt supported it'll never be a success - Its a shame the sport in this country isnt promoted. Look to what the polish clubs do - They get there stars out in the community as part of the riders contracts. They also advertise outside of specialist press. They create a brand and market that brand. They have facilities for young riders to progress.

What do we have in the UK? Normally a bit of plywood outside the ground saying speedway tonight.!

To be fair to Rick and Julie I think that they tried, had the best of intentions and splashed the cash. Unfortunately whoever they employed for expert knowledge was seemingly clueless and all of that effort was wasted until the end when it was too late. It's ironic that they've gone to Poole who don't fanny about when important team decisions etc need to be made whereas whoever made the decisions at Peterborough cost the club success and that elusive crowd everybody craved.

I,m not a Pboro fan but a regular at the Showground in there EL days perhaps I see things differently as being a neutral but to my mind the biggest problem at Pboro was and still is Swales his team managing skills are 0 for instance when kenneth and Niels was at Pboro they used to argue and fall out in the pits - when my team Kings Lynn moved up and our first signing was Niels i said I hope we don't sign Kenneth as they don't get on but sure enough we signed Kenneth but there was no falling out between them they got on with each other and they was together again last season and again this coming season why can they be friends and get on well at Kings Lynn but couldn't at Pboro ? There is one name linked with all Pboro teams of the past few years and I think that person is a lot of the problem .

I think that you see things the same but are allowed to say because you are neutral. We are not.

Would take Brady and a more balanced team anyday over Darcy. Maybe we could persuade Tai to remain in the uk?

If he does I hope you are forced to buy him.

No way should Wolves let any other team use him on his low average, as im sure is the plan.

Has an air of familiarity to it!

However, I don't think it will happen as Tai has scruples. He has made a decision to give the UK a miss this coming season and I think he will stick to that unless for short term injury cover (for Wolves)!

BTW - Wolves wouldn't be able to stop it as was seen by the Miedzinski signing by Poole on loan when he added 2 points to his average!

Why are you not allowed to say anything? It's been obvious to anyone with a brain (no, I'm not suggesting you haven't got one) that that is the problem at Peterborough. It's the same as Fry at P'boro Utd.He's been there forever.

Think what a profit they could make at Panthers if all his entourage were made to pay

Think Adams mentioned at the talk in that he would have to be sold if he wanted to come back to another club this season.

Rightly so.

But obviously the riders will do what is best for them irregardless.

Hopefully Tai has the scruples we all expect him to have.
