Wolves V Coventry Monday 30th March

Recommended Posts

So now we know.

You choose your team, not to win, but on the basis that someone MIGHT get injured.

You postpone meetings when it is dry just in case it MIGHT rain.

I suggest we do away with the entire league as Poole MIGHT win.

Let's just all give up, altogether, eh?

What a lad of tosh!

Of course it makes sense to track 7 riders rather than 6 - sadly, injuries are part and parcel of the sport [it is a contact sport, you know - Muddlo told us] so the more available on the night, the better

Of course it makes sense to postpone as early as possible, knowing what weather is forecast [and the bad weather which is forecast has been mentioned much earlier in this thread] - it saves fans, riders, staff, etc unnecessary travel; helps with things like catering; late postponements are oft criticised

Of course Poole MIGHT win the league, depending on the rules and regulations!!!!

What ? if rr is going to score more you go with 6 ....the only tosh is someone saying lets put out a team that is going to score less .

You're just the type of most speedway promoters love.

Unfortunately, whereas there used to be lots of you, most have woken up and seen the light or simply passed on.

It's little wonder that Poole do so well each year, their promoter is intelligent, makes the right decisions the majority of the time to maximise his teams chances of winning.

Others, as we have seen, do not.

So you can predict the future and you know that Doolan would not score well and that Garrity would not have bike problems as he did on Friday but he'd repeat his heroics from last season at Monmore (against a heavily revised Wolves team).

Common sense says that you go with a seven-man team and keep your options open. Your 6-man team would only work if Garrity scored double figures.

Pity we'll never know now that the weather has intervened.

And you can predict the future and predict that Garrity would not score well and Doolan would not have bikes problems or be rubbish?

Common sense says if you can use a guy who beat Woffinden around Wolves in the GB final, who scores 17 out of 18 beating Wells and Thorsell in a league meeting in 2014 then you do. Not Doolan, who has done what exactly at Wolves in the last 2 seasons?

I can quite safely predict that Garrity is better at Wolves than Doolan is and would back him in a head to head race every time. Would you do the same with Doolan?

Have never really understood calling meetings off hours in advance based on a forecast. Rain either arrives much later than the 'professionals' predict or not at all far too often to take the risk.

Not a forecast but fact

Nothing to with predicting the future ...all you can do it any sport is used logic to pick a side that gives you the best chance of winning... hence this case using rr ...not really hard to follow .

Well done Wolves good decision. If there is clearly a blanket of rain sweeping across the UK then its not even a 'what if' situation. Saved a lot of people money and time!

That's not guaranteed, if higher pressure had been over the east of England, the rain would die out before getting into the Midlands, even though it looks like it's heading this way, that isn't the case today though......

Precisely, never an exact science.

Yes true, but there was no high pressure over this country which was known.

When forecasts give over a 95% chance of hours of rain then it is not in doubt. I think they can tell if there is an area of high pressure.
