FootieandSpeedway 0 Posted April 26, 2015 YES is my answer. Silly to even ask the question as he is currently our number 1 rider, as he is British Champ and he is down to ride in the Semi Final at Kings Lynn.
Cockney Rebel 97 Posted April 26, 2015 Drop him from the pairs. We can always use Craig cook And Robert Lambert that will teach Johnny foreigner not to run theirspeedway better than us. Is that polish or Danish laughter I can hear? Perhaps Australia won't pick Chris Holder and JasonDoyle cos they rideover here. AN absolutely crackpot idea

waiheke1 4,295 Posted April 26, 2015 As Blazeaway's comments usually do.Tbf, the allblacks won't pick anybody not playing domestic rugby (NPC/super15) in Nz. To ensure 1. Quality of domestic competition 2. Availability of players for training camps and internationals. But we have the quality in depth, and the all black Jersey retains sufficient mana, to make this work. The same wouldn't work for the all whites for example

Similarly with English rugby - really only the French League that's comparable worldwide.

Cj69 333 Posted April 27, 2015 (edited) NZ (and Aus/SA) do allow a few players a year to play abroad and still play for their country (should they be picked). There are conditions though like being available for their country and training camps if needed. IMO we see sports men and woman all the time not compete in their own country but still represent us. Why should Tai be stuck riding in GB? Poland and Sweden have a much more competitive and structured league and he thinks that's best for him at this point in his career. Why cant we just respect that? Edited April 27, 2015 by Cj69
westhamboy66 599 Posted April 27, 2015 Well Hancock and Crump, both adored for some reason by british supporters kicked British speedway while it was down but both got hero welcomes when they returned but an English boy, with English parents choses to earn a living abroad and all of a sudden he is questioned about whether on not he should be picked by GB...nonsense, he is our best rider by far, why wouldn't we pick him,

Why would Tai want to race for TeamGB now he has turned his back on GB? I know they say never say never but it looks as though he has now set his stall out for his future.

Greg is an American based in Sweden. Jason is Australian and free to ride anywhere. Perhaps they are "adored" because they are both 3-time World Champions...not just "for some reason".

Big difference between committing to a full season for a British team and turning out 2 or 3 times in SWC week. I don't think there is any kind of relationship between the two at all.

Why should Tai making changes to his day job affect his affinity to his country.
