Somerset 'v' Newcastle Fri. 29th May

Not being a regular down at the OTA these days but an avid follower still, what does the OTA faithful feel about moving Leigh Lanham to No 3 for the home matches and Ritchie who is struggling a bit to No2. In the 2013 season Gary used to swop Josh and Nick about for the home and away matches to great effect.

I'd probably suggest this is a good idea for home meetings, as Charles Wright has become a specialist to ride up the air fence whilst Lanham hugs the white line to great effect. Worrall almost gets in the way of Wright who is always supremely quick at the OTA.

Having predicted an easy home win, I have to say that the Diamonds provided the Rebels with a much harder task than I thought. Credit to Kerr, Henry and Lindgren who all battled superbly. More often than not these three outdated the Rebels. Furthermore, on two occasions they were either first or second when first Lindgren, then Kerr came to grief.

Kerr's crash looked particularly frightening after he clipped the back straight fence whilst chasing Starke. He lay stricken on the track for ten minutes receiving treatment before hobbling back to the pits (and getting a terrific round of applause from the Somerset fans). He showed real grit by coming out for his final two rides and continuing to mix it with the Rebels riders

Once again another superb nights racing, and although witnessed by a somewhat modest crowd, once again it is the stay away fans who don't come because they don't like the look of the make up of various teams, that miss out.

Great racing at the OTA is guaranteed!!

I didn't think they were particularly old........

I think the crowd level on Friday was as much to do with the horrendous traffic problems on the M5 (especially north-bound) that night which more than likely prevent many from getting to OTA, or put them off from either trying to get there.

Spot on - he was good last week but seemed to have so much more speed this week, and shame he missed out on his maximum.

I was really impressed with Starke at Scunny, very brave rider.

.... I always hope that the diamonds were entertaining.

Likewise when the Rebels are on the road. You never know, perhaps we could do so at Foxhall someday!

The Diamonds were great value for money on Friday. Kerr and Henry got stuck in. How Kerr managed to continue after his off defies belief. I think he got spooked out by Starke passing him, lost concentration and just got too close to the fence. Very lucky to hobble away from that one.

Just to enthasise Paul Starke's form of late, he got a paid maximum in the EL on Monday night too!

This time of year the scrumpy is particularly strong!

Starkey's aim is to get into the Rebels main team this year. His recent scores suggest it won't be too long before he does!
