Teterow 2016

Recommended Posts

No, definitely no money there.

Teterow has the money from their traditional 2-days grass track event, so they are able to finance a SGP at their track in the woods. BSI(IMG seems to be happy to accept, and perhaps it will be quite good, who knows? Perhaps they can create something like a Woodstock Happening feeling about this SGP at Teterow? This would appeal to some, not me, though.

Teterow should be getting some support from forum members who take the view thee track comes first then spectator comforts second. Sounds like Teterow is fairly basic on facilities so as long its a good race track then it should get some "yes's".

KELVIN Tatum, who has ridden there, reckons the track is pretty good.

Wasn't that what he said about Horsens as well? ;)

Spectators will no doubt think there's a Timelord convention at the track due to the amount of Tardii(if that's the correct terminology) in the area.

Bit confused about Kelvins track report. On the SGP website he said it was excellent, then after 2 heats he said 'gating will be at a premium' and when Chris Holder hit a rut he mentioned it was a problem with it in practise.Seems he puts a bit of spin on for BSI then is a bit makes it up as he goes along in commentary.

Teterow is worse than Norden, or Pocking, since those were decent stadia, while Teterow is just a race track with some grass banking around.

I actually think both Norden and Pocking are okay as regular speedway venues go, but they should never have been World Final venues. Teterow just looks incredibly basic.

NOT really. The track was excellent when he rode it at 12.30 on Friday, before the usual hammering it takes in practice when a couple of ruts appeared but were worked on overnight. They didn't re-appear until late in the actual meeting. The premium on gating only really became apparent when four riders were on the track and the advantage from one became apparent.

When are four riders not on the track? Should hardly come as a surprise LOL.

WHEN KT was doing his track test... or indeed at practice

Yes, You are right. Norden now has installed some modern seating, which they got from Werder Bremen when the Football Club renovated the Weser Stadium a few years ago.

Anyway, I posted these two pictures just to indicate that we do have quite impressive speedway stadia here in Germany (yet even Norden was criticised by many for being a poor venue for a world final), and now BSI/IMG chose a place like Teterow to host a SGP.

That's because it wasn't the stadium back then that it is now, it was more like Teterow is.

So, it's hardly the first time that the track have looked good before practice. Imo since everybody knows that the track usually look quite different during the race compared to the practice.

Perhaps it would be a better idea to test the track after the practice but before pots-practice track grading to get a more true/balanced view of what the track is like.

Most tracks will look good before practice but it's not until the tracks have been used that you can tell if they will hold up or not.
