Just hope that it is good news, there have been far to many bad accidents this year. Lets give all our best wishes to Ben, and hope that the accidents was not as bad as it looked. Don't like to see it when a rider dosen't get up off the track and the paramedics take so long to get the rider stabilised, as it just shows how serious the accident was. If not he would have been put straight on the strecher and put in the ambulance. Hope my fear for Ben are wrong, he is a rider that gives it 200% all the time if not more, but that was a very nasty tumble. All these guys are true hero's in my eyes.

Someone has posted on Twitter saying he is awaiting results of scans in back and neck

They said that on the telly last night.

You'd guess that'll be the case, then. Good luck to him, we'll hear the diagnosis when it is properly reported.

Best Wishes to Ben, he is a rider who tends to have home fans shouting (not always supportive comments!!) but ultimately all true fans appreciate him because a) he gives his all especially if guesting for your team B) he is an entertainer c) he takes time to talk to presenters and fans.

Speedy recovery

Certainly agree with that statement. He was a star turn for Scunthorpe a couple of weeks ago.

According to the Berwick website he has broken at least one vertebra. Hopefully nothing more, and Ben is ok very soon.

http://berwickbandits.co/article/ben-barker-update

For all of us, the British final was ruined in the very first heat. Following a minor first-bend 'all four back' spill, in the re-run our Ben Barker hit the front around the first two turns bends and was romping down the back straight when his front wheel lifted and, as he got it down again his footrest appeared to touch the safety-fence and he suffered a horrific crash, with the bike and Ben somersaulting together and Ben being slammed into the shale by his own machine.

After careful attention on the track, he was lifted into the stadium ambulance and transferred to hospital. He has suffered concussion and sustained injuries to his upper back. A series of scans have been taking place last night and during today to ascertain the precise nature of his injuries, although we should emphasise that he appears to have full movement in his arms and legs.

Ben told us tonight that he has broken at least one vertebra and is awaiting a further MRI scan to ascertain if an operation will be needed. He finished his message by thanking everyone who has already send messages of encouragement and good will, closing his news by firmly stating "I'll be back!"

As additional information on Ben's situation reaches us, we will post it to our club website, and issue further Banditmails.
