Somerset V Edinburgh 11.8.15

Recommended Posts

Not the best meeting I have ever seen at Somerset.

Scarily Edinburgh looked so good and seem to peaking at the right time.

I just wonder how much the defeat to Plymouth has taken out of the Rebels confidence wise, they look a pale shadow of the team that beat us at Sheffield early this season.

And how bad was Worrall.

Worrall has been garbage at home all season, although his away form has been good. Lanham has been poor all round since his maximum against Glasgow.

Very enjoyable meeting. Great to watch - from an Edinburgh fan's point of view at least. Sure it didn't have the classic racing of the Monarchs' last televised victory at Somerset, but there was still lots to admire. From Cookie & Sedgy's synchronised team riding in heat 1 to a pulsating heat 13 with Craig performing miracles to protect Erik and stay in front of Brady & Josh. Speedway for the connoisseur!

Great determined fast intelligent riding from the top 4 - with Erik at last fulfilling his potential (take a bow, son). Even the reserves did their job by ensuring they finished in front of Greenwood in heat 2. This was a full strength Rebels at home getting a 6 point tactical ride and still losing by 9. Brilliant performance by Monarchs.

Have to say Greenwood was pants too.

And kurtz was pretty mince.

Tonight was proof, that you get boring meetings regardless of the league....

It was not the best but i have seen worst certainly at EL level, tonight was boring because Edinburgh were superb tonight.

Cant believe I'm wanting the Monarchs to win , but the reality is that if they win down there then it all but guarantees both Scottish clubs will finish in the top 2 .

However a Somerset victory sets up a very interesting Rebels northern tour starting on the 21st

Very strange meeting from ALL somerset riders,it looked liked someone had hpnotized them before the meeting started,or they had just spent hours on the beach sunbathing and thought they would just rock up to this meeting, very strange.

R Worrel -In his first heat ive never seen anyone so focused on the green light,so focused he forgot to watch the tapes go up!!!

Bradly kurtz seems to be dialled in at Sheffield every week, but looks to have forgot the quickist way round Somerset!!!

L Lanham Never at the races and getting in his teamates way.

Josh G -looks like he still has his mind on the Lewis Kerr injury, which is a shame as hes been very good all year.

All in all one of the worst team performances of the season from somerset, very strange that so many riders were off key.

Not the most amazing meeting, few good races thats all, erik riss sure looked good, first time there aswell very impressive, worrall completely the opposite looked absolutely awful, think somerset need a couple of changes if there going to win the league.

Brady has loads of Guest booking for Sheffield this season and has done okay for so not so sure whether it is his form that needs questioning.

I saw Kurtz after the match in the Oaktree. He looked pale and drawn and didn't have any spark. He has been over doing the guest bit and Somerset are suffering because of it. He has to think before he acts. The "Win at all costs" attitude doesn't work, he has to take a more tactical look at his riding and remember he has a team mate on the track!!!

Every dog has his day.

Glad we brightened up your miserable lives.

Why do you always have to reduce a thread to insults and abuse?

You know they've taken the word gullible out of the dictionary?

Edinburgh were very impressive but they shouldn't get carried away with this result - Somerset aren't as invincible at home as they once were with Plymouth tearing them apart two weeks ago.

Riss was especially impressive and Cook imperious.

Wright and Starke fought for every point and Grajczonek got a couple of wins but the rest were poor. Kurtz looked nothing like a top PL performer.

What was most disappointing was that the weather was perfect, we had at least potentially a cracking meeting, there was a huge crowd, it was televised ......and the track was rubbish.
