Leicester Lions 2016

Recommended Posts

So the revolving door at Leicester is unlocked again and back in use let's see which riders come through it this time.

I had doubts over the last two signings as in my view are not presently up to EL standards and I have unfortunately been proved correct.

The next move is crucial as there was a better crowd last night and need to get some more home wins

Seems Watt has rode his LAST ride for the lions, It will be interesting to see who will replace him, it can't be any worse.

Can't remember to many times that a home team has had two reserves score twenty points between them and lose. Also would any of the home fans maybe of made tactical/reserve changes earlier? and differently in heats 13/14.?

I've read the article in the Lakeside match programme headed "Lioness" (or something like that), it has a picture of somebody who I guess is Mrs Hemsley, so its fair to presume that she "wrote" it.

There were obviously concerns over falling crowd levels. Well, maybe they have improved in the two meetings since it was written, I don't know. But what an utter load of whingeing tripe. Blaming everything and everyone. OK there was some substance, such as the LCFC factor, but anything about what's being done to try and negate those effects? No, presumably because the answer to that one would be "nothing".

So were those words really those of Mrs or of Mr Hemsley? Or a joint effort? Not that it makes any difference I suppose.

The way it appears, is that DH has abdicated, exited stage left, legged it from the scene of the crime like a drunk driver getting away from the accident he's caused, leaving his Mrs and others to try to clear up the mess and provide the alibis.

Among those who have decided to turn their backs, are probably people who now realise the truth, that they have been fed a complete heap of bull, garbage about top riders apparently keen to sign for Leicester. When people realize they've been duped, they go away.

It isn't just Leicester that's the problem of course. The Elite league is a sham because it's propped up by the so-called inferior leagues, so it's a wider problem. But the decision to join that league was based around personal ego rather than business sense and, like other key mistakes, involved the ignoring of good advice.

Not sure it will be allowed as I'm sure his season starting average of above 6.00 is whats taken into account for doubling down I do believe

Not really a shock. He said on twitter, Can not keep flogging a dead horse, so guessed he would give up. My opinion, bikes just not quick enough, costs money to put that right, but if not scoring points then no money to do it.

As an avid supporter of this great family sport for many years from first being taken along to B.Road in the final years by my parents then getting my weekly fix from up the m69 (sorry) until the relaunch now taking my own family to numerous events around the uk i believe even in these challenging times there are some short term wins the club could action.

Just so we are all clear I believe the track shape is poor and until further modifications are made 70% of the racing shall remain processional sad when you compare to the likes of Peterborough up the road

and given time the new belle vue however this post is not to go over old ground.

Quick wins.

Meeting intro.

Bring the bikes out to the start line introduce the riders coin toss in front of the fans and allow practise laps.

Winner of a heat, home or away rider MUST complete a lap of honour get one of the track staff to have a chequered flag on exit of bend two as with the early days of the GP.

Re build the pits so the fans can see the action (medium term) in the short term get the home team to set up outside onto the back wall as with the second half guys, allow access into this area from the slope on bend one with fenced area for HS let the fans see what's going on..

More mid meeting interviews Rob seems to do a descent job so let's have more of the team and management.

Post meeting interviews if they will participate get the away manager and there top rider to participate. Jon Cook was the first person in some considerable time.

Yes we will only see the real potential of this club with crowds when we finally address the track creating revenue to finally develop the project. We are now at a Crossroad we either Drop down to the premier league to continue as a weekend sport or go mid week enticing a wider pool of rider availability (my preference) before I get comments of the crowds will drop with family's each week etc how do other sports manage then with week night events. I really do believe if the entertainment is improved people will start to return it's been long enough since we returned to the city time to kick on.

One final point I know lions live in the jungle but please cut the grass before the next home meeting or we shall have our own jungle...

He wouldn't be doubling down if he hasn't got an EL place!! But I take the point about a 6+ point starting average - even though the likes of Craig Cook seem to have got round it or has that been allowed because he's a Brit?!

Cook was allowed because he has a 2015 PL average
