full-throttle 182 Posted May 26, 2016 never say never, it does look grim for the stadium but stranger things have happened. Sandhu sold the stadium for £2.7m and has a lease until the end of the year, stock car drivers and fans also in attendance they state that Sandhu has asked for his regular Saturdays in next years calendar, so maybe hope there. Gemini 4,894 Posted May 27, 2016 Oh dear! Talk about putting all your eggs into one basket. Would have thought they would have had the track share as a back up. Do you really think that would work? I'm afraid all the eggs have to be put into one basket because I doubt more than a couple of hundred fans would bother to watch the Bees at Leicester and the majority of Lions fans wouldn't want to watch them either.
heathen chemistry 660 Posted May 27, 2016 Track sharing is short term and financial suidice. Prolongs the inevitable at great expense. Only a lunatic would pursue it. track share didnt work for cradley, when they went to stoke for a season, if it didnt work then 20 yrs ago it defo wont work now
Woz01 3,589 Posted May 27, 2016 (edited) There is still a lot of things we can persue to get racing at Brandon next season. Councillor Stokes was particularly impressive and suggested more than once than any housing would be refuse on the site for a variety of reasons especially over 200 dwellings. Under the surface of the meeting it seems there could be a deal reached where both keep the stadium and build some houses on the site subject to planning obviously. The developers also need permission to demolish the stadium, asbestos and other issues could make that prolonged. Still a hell if a lot to fight for the developers haven't said no to next season but they are still talking to the councillor so hopefully us and stox can still get a longer lease. Also at the meeting a statement from Heaver revealed they like a site 13 miles from Brandon but still near Coventry, going by that it must be the opposite side of the City but we will have to wait and see on that.... Woz01 3,589 Posted May 27, 2016 Ah the old, "green belt" arguement again. Only 8% of the UK is buit on. So even if we went mad a double the amount of homes, places of entertainment, roads, workplace then the UK would still be 84% not built on! Sod it, when are we going to stop obsesses over a bit of grass? The councillor addressed this and said it wasn't because it was green belt it was because the only access was a one track road with no option to extend.
