The Club's website and twitter announced yesterday that ticket prices were being frozen at 2015 levels.

Also the statement went on to say that: 'We are currently assessing the fixture clashes involved for Rich, Edward & Kim to ensure we have the maximum availability possible and we hope to announce further rider news after the BSPA meeting next Tuesday.'

Does the reference to 'Rich' mean that Richard Lawson has been re-signed for this season, or may be after the fixtures have been assessed or, as usual, have I missed something somewhere?

The report also says there will be a rider announcement after the BSPA meeting on Tuesday. If you go on the website and click on 2016 Hammers there are photos of 7 riders, 6 have their names under the pictures but the other one doesn't . But he does have Richard Lawsons name on his bike ! It looks like they are sorting out fixtures with Glasgow before final confirmation. I think the fixture list is due out in a week or so time, which seems to tie in with the BSPA meeting, so that appears to be the hold up.

If Rich is the final rider it should bring them to less than a point short of the points limit which is about as close as its realistically possible to get.

Erm............. do lakeside know something the rest of us don't?

They had 1 place left to fill but this morning announced the signings of

Richard Lawson

Piotr Swiderski

Meaning they have 6 riders for the top 5.

So either the rules have changed and it's 8 rider teams

They will job share for the season

Or they are dropping 1 of the top 5 already

It's all getting very confusing this season. BSPA making even more of a mess of things than before if possible.

Quickly losing interest in the sport as it's beyond fixing. It's becoming a joke now.

looks like squads as more riders to be announced. Bad idea

The full 2016 Vortex Hammers squad will be announced by the Club shortly with Cook explaining:

Were keen to run more of a squad this season to take advantage of the changes made at the BSPA and best cover for the unavoidable clashes that are the nature of modern Speedway.

Can't see 8 men teams when Leicester & Kings Lynn are struggling to find 7

is one of the fast track reserves positions bring scrapped?

No. It looks like because Kings Lynn and Leicester messed up with team building, Buster & co have now decided squads are the answer.

Not very fair on those who did work hard to complete their teams

The BSPA are a joke! says it all when Lakeside announce the news of a squad!

Great news.

If it gets rid of Guests/R/R then all the better.

Squads are a poor idea in my view as some teams will simply pick specialists for each track and I think it will further irk the fans.

Interesting that Swidders is said to be on a "bargain" average of 3.87 . Well, it's only a bargain if it means he squeezes in just under the points limit. If they have two or three points to spare anyway it's not a bargain. Does this mean the points limit has been reduced ?

We shall have to wait and see but it will be interesting to see if Kenny Bjerre squeezes in anywhere now.

I thought they already had 7 riders before they announced these two. I assume then that they ditched Lewis Blackbird when they signed Lewis Kerr?

It's not difficult is it.

Now let's all remember, we've agreed these new squad rules, we don't want anyone jumping the gun and announcing anything, particularly without a full explanation, until we make the official announcement first thing tomorrow explaining exactly what we've agreed and why. We don't want to look as if we couldn't organise the proverbial trip to the brewery do we.

It depends on what is meant by "squad" . We have yet to find out but it COULD be something as simple as Ed Kennett and Rich Lawson sharing the same berth. That is nothing new . In the past we have seen D/u riders sharing a job, for example Phil Morris and Stuart Robson have shared a role at Lakeside as have Robbo and Kauko Neiminen.

Jon Cook is not the most accurate person in the world when it comes to making quotes and it may be that he his referring to job sharing rather than squads in the normal sense of word. I suspect that is the case but I don't know. We'll have to see what else leaks out. It's not the sort of thing the BSPA normally make a formal announcement about.
