Easy to see each team have between 2 to 4 riders in the pl that don't ride in the top league or in another nations league ...the bottom line is we are heading for one big league anyhow so these riders will only have one club anyhow soon and will have  a choice to be  happy with only riding for one club or get another job of course

A bigger league surely means more meetings for the one club he rides for.

everyone forgets that, and he'd meet fewer top riders per meeting £££

A lot of the riders do that now

About 137 riders were registered with the SCB in 2021 across all divisions. If you have one big league, with 17 clubs, 112 of them will be needed, leaving only 22 (net of Pedersen's Summers's and Crump's retirements) left for 6 teams to fight over in the NDL.  I doubt that there are 17 riders of genuine #1 stature to lead each of these teams.

Unlikely to be 17 clubs the way things are going .....you got the wrong end the stick about the riders .. we were talking about riders who only rely on riding for one club full stop in the uk  at the moment (not counting  the nl)not riders who have one club in the uk  but  ride in Poland etc

I also recommend checking out this site - https://betpokies.com - there is a lot of interesting information about Australian casinos!

It's not such a bad idea - one big league. It's quite possible that it would bring in money and make the motorsport even more popular.

Hold on, hold on, hold on....are you suggesting that the BSPZzz imposes a ban on riders contracted to British clubs riding for any other team, anywhere in Europe? Are you serious?

Well that'll be even less then. Given the choice of British & Polish pay scales, those with a Polish team place will opt to ride there. So if you take away the likes of Dan Bewley, Jack Holder, Brady Kurtz, Luke Becker, Sam Masters, Erik Riss, look at how much you'll be devaluing the British League product. And that's just those who ride in the Polish leagues. If you do that to the riders with Polish contracts, then you have to do the same for the Danes, Germans and Swedes too, because that's, um, discrimination, and that's illegal. But is that what you want to do? Seriously?

So how many riders will you have in your one big league, given that anyone riding for a foreign team will be excluded from your plans? The names are available on the team averages pages of the SGB web site, just cross off those who ride abroad, and let us know how many that leaves. Divide that by 7 and let us know how many teams there are enough riders for. I'm intrigued to know the figures you come up with. You might end up with one league, but it won't be "big".

First of all why would a contract be illegal no one is asking for anyone to  be banned  .  what discrimination are you on about  no one is stopping the likes of Becker etc signing for a British Club  the choice would be  up to him . Football players sign for one club are there contracts are not classed as  illegal and no one go's on about discrimination . In Poland they already have rules that limit  where riders can ride in  the World

As for Numbers as we already spoken about that ... Speedway would be better  all round and more credible sport if it was one rider one club .

Football players are employees of their clubs who play and train for their employer 7 days a week and get paid on a weekly basis whether they play or not. Speedway riders are self-employed contractors with the ability to ply their trade to whoever hires them in whichever country, and only get paid if they ride for a team. That's a huge difference. Expecting a contractor to ride for one team in the Britain ONLY, where they might only get out on track once a fortnight, depending on the fixture list, would be unreasonable, and if it was part of his contract, would probably fall foul of restraint of trade laws.

How can the above be true as i have already pointed out riders have signed contracts in Poland that won't allowed ride in more than two countries ... so what happen to these restraint laws there then ? .after all according to you there self employed contractors with the ability to ply there trade  where and for who they want . Boxers sign with promoters but dont get  paid weekly but per fight as a rule  but they are still under  contract they just can't  go and fight for someone else

If a Speedway team draws up a contract where a rider can only ride for them no one can stop them . it will be then up to the rider if he wishes to sign that contract  . no diffrent to giving a self employed person a full time job for half a year .

...and in the latest news if the BSPA don't do it, someone else will latest 2023. Maybe not ban cos it sounds bad, but a contract clause that does the same.

Sad to see the famous Blunsdon Back Straight Bogs have been demolished in the stadium rebuild. Should have been a listed building :(

They only recently updated it, adding lights, bog rolls, doorlocks, hand wash facilities:rofl:

The stadium rebuild is progressing, walls demolished, grass banks levelled.

I think you mean the stadium demolition is progressing well!!. I guess the site needs to be flattened before they can think about putting houses on it!! I wonder what the excuse will be not to build once the old girl has been demolished meaning there is no way speedway could even run on the old site.
