Thanks for your response, but we were talking about ham sandwiches being confiscated from English lorry drivers as they arrive over the channel.

They should try getting into Australia, New Zealand and the USA. They'd end up with a fine as well as confiscation and  every single morsel of their possessions being rigorously searched as well.  You'll have to get used to living back in the 60s again.

Doesn't make any difference. If animal products aren't allowed unregulated into the EU for biosecurity reasons, then they're not allowed whether they're in someone's sandwich or not

It's no different if you try to take a ham sandwich into the US or Australia, even if some countries are more strict in their application than others.

These are the consequences if you insist on diverging from common standards for things, and the UK no longer has any say over what the EU decides. What did you think was going to be the outcome?

And you asked if the same thing would happen inwards to the UK. Doh!

Presumably the same will apply to those coming INTO the uk from Europe. Its ok, precautions need to be taken.

My response was solely about lorry drivers coming into the UK.

I have no problem with that lorry driver having his butty confiscated. Perhaps it was his first time through this year and either forgot or didnt know.

Not been able to send any fishing bait to Belgium or Holland since Jan 1st, as the Government have been unable to supply us with a commodity code, and they don't know when this will be rectified. What a pile of horse manure this government is...

Yep, we can’t even export horse manure.  We used to have outlets in Australia and Germany.  :D

The government do not routinely give out commodity codes to businesses as they should declare their goods under the code given in the tariff - have you asked for a ruling because you're not sure what code to declare?
