Can't believe the ridiculous (and dangerous) panic buying and stock-piling of petrol... mind you, then again the Brexit vote did show there's at least 17 million Muppets in this country, who are to blame for what's happening now.

The funny part looking at the photos of those filling up Jerry cans, is that they primarily look to be of the older generation. The type that tended to vote for Brexit...

Probably filling them up for their grandkids’ Peugeot 105s because they’ve never figured out how to get petrol or to vote.  :D

The real causes of the HGV driver shortage and why we can’t blame it all on Brexit | Analysis & Features | The Grocer

Just another reminder of the reality in the form of a properly researched article with ONS figures supporting what they print.

That's in comparison to the regular childish, thumb on nose ner ner unsupported nonsense from the usual culprits about it being Brexit voters who bulk buy, Brexit is to blame for the driver shortage and so on.

More absurd generalisations. You should have seen the Lib Dem pro eu stalls back along in Taunton. Virtually all pensioners. So shows your statement to be what it really is , total b+llocks.

No more than the usual culprits keep telling us that Brexit isn't part of the reason, yet the government is now bowing to allowing EU drivers back into the UK to alleviate the shortage....

Will EU lorry drivers actually want to come here on a temporary basis? Why would they give up the hassle free driving in the EU with no delays, to come to a nation that half the nation hate them simply because they are “foreign”? And for a temporary period only?  It’s simply not appealing for them to come here.

Seems not... :(

Very few of the pro-Brexit gang seem to be on here at the moment... I wonder where they could be...

I don't think the Faroese care to be considered Danish. ;)

How much evidence do you need other than the government performing yet another u-turn to grant short term visas to EU truck drivers? I remember being told there are plenty non EU nationals willing to come and work here - what happened to them?

Look also at the survey at the bottom of the article.

"Bowing to allowing"? Begging more like. Weren't EU people supposed to be taking jobs away from British people? What a load of old claptrap that turned out to be.

How many will want to come though? They are being offered "temporary visas" so will be told to sod off again if and when they are no longer needed.

An insult to EU drivers and another Brexit embarrassment.

Any chance of visas for coffee shop and Pizza restaurant workers so we can get some decent service back instead of the disinterested 16-year-old's that now seem to be doing these jobs now and can't be bothered to clear up work surfaces or used tables?

I kind of tolerated Brexit because it was based on a public vote but, regardless of that, the effects are really starting to show now.
