Czech Golden Helmet - Help/advice

Recommended Posts

Having met several people on our speedway travels who have said, "you must do the Czech Golden Helmet". This is our year!

Our outline plan is to fly to Prague and then train to Pardubice to take in all three days of racing. We then plan to go on to Vienna for a few days and then to Budapest and fly back from there. So we will be reliant on public transport.

If anybody would care to take the time to offer any hints/tips we'd be most grateful. Particularly getting to the stadium and tickets etc. Of course any favoured bars/restaurants would have to be fully explored 😉

Thanks.

Although our last visit was in 2008, I can certainly recommend the following hotel in Pardubice - https://www.hoteleuro.cz/

We got taxis to and from the stadium, there were plenty of taxis lined up outside the stadium post meeting.

Close to the hotel was this place http://www.stpatrick.cz/ which I'd recommend.

As for stadium tickets, I'd recommend contacting the Pardubice club directly http://www.zlataprilba.cz/

I too can highly recommend the Hotel Euro, our group have been for the last 2 years and each time the hotel has been excellent.

With regard to tickets, I booked ours via ticketpotal https://www.ticketportal.cz/ and found it pretty straightforward to use as you can change the language to English. You print the tickets off at home.

We have sat in the main stand, just either side of the start line and had a fantastic view, you will wherever you sit to be honest. We sat on benches that are numbered so depending on who you are sitting with and close to, it can be a bit of a squeeze.

If you are able to get on the front row, its much easier to catch the attention of the girls bringing the drinks round!

I believe our tickets cost £25 - £30 for both meetings last year, with the Friday night meeting only being a few pounds.

You'll have a great time, lots of food and drink in plentiful supply and great speedway.

Thank you for your replies.

We had already booked a hotel because we panicked at the "only two rooms left" when we were tentatively looking but fortunately it was the Hotel Euro so we are re-assured by your recommendations and off on the right foot.

Everything else can be done during the weekend while in Pardubice, accommondation is the problem. Unless of course you are happy to throw away 200 a anight for a double.

First year we stayed in Chrudim, 10km south from the track. Really nice little town with a train connection to Pardu.
