Lakeside V Poole Ela. 8/04/16

Recommended Posts

We now have the Hammers V Pirates return A fixture after tonights meeting at Wimborne Road.

I think the result of this meeting will be very different to tonights. For starters the Lakeside boys are very solid around the tight turns of their track and some of the Poole riders may struggle big time.

Holder is OK around the track but can have the duff ride there.

Kurtz has probaby never ridden there.

Watt is a track specialist but is in terrible form at the moment.

Buckowski scored big tonight but around Lakeside? Doubt he will score many.

Hans should do ok as he must have been there dozens of times.

Newman is usually pretty good there, and

Ellis is pretty good there.

I personally think the Hammers will take some beating around their own place and expect them to get revenge for tonight.

48-42 to Lakeside.

Thoughts?

Really tough to call this one, the Lakeside top five have been looking good at home but Kerr hasn't seemed to get dialled in yet and Mear looked great against Kings Lynn but poor against Leicester. The reserves could well decide this meeting and I hope we manage to get a win but it could be really tight. If the track is prepared the same as last week hopefully we will see some great racing.

I'm sure Hans normally rides well round there, scored 10 for Coventry on his last visit there last year.

Rain will be a problem, if you fully believe the weather forecast yesterday..... That's a forecast produced over 55 hours before tapes up....

Latest forecast is a dry day with the occassional shower. More rain about today. Should be OK.

?

I agree with that assessment of the riders except Hans is usually a lot better than merely ok, in fact I would be delighted to see him as second heatleader for the Hammers.

Despite Davey's form, it must be a good few years since he scored less than 7 at Lakeside, and the track suits his style perfectly. It is undoubtedly his best track apart from Poole. I woukd normally expect Hans and Daveyto score about 19/20 between them if Hans has 5 rides and Davey has 4.

It is an interesting balance. Poole are widely predicted to finish top and the match is a must win for them if they are to establish an early advantage over Belle Vue and the rest. If they fall short of a win it will give some encouragement to the likes of BV. Lakeside are widely predicted to finish bottom two, but if they can see the Pirates off, or at least keep,it close I doubt that any of the others will beat them at home, and they will then have decent prospects of moving up the table. So there is everything to play for.

Very difficult one to call because both sides have riders with question marks over their form just now but in paper I would say it's Pooles to lose.

Lakeside are predicted to finish bottom 2?? Since when? Surely that is KL and Leicester.

Look at the predictions on here and in SS. In fact even Steve Shovlar put them bottom two at one stage. Personally I think Kelvin's influence will keep them off the bottom but we shall have to wait and see.

Okay. Fair enough. I wouldn't put them bottom 2.

Personally i think Kelvin could end up doing a good job.

I've made a point of looking over the pits in between some races and Kelvin is definitely getting about to provide feedback to everyone.

He can't transform riders into world class but he can certainly get the best out of them and I believe he will.

There appears to be a good team spirit as well. AJ helps immensely in this area. Great team man.

Onto Friday and my only fear is the reserves. Kyle is class at that level and Ellis has suddenly decided he can ride the track after all.

Think the respective top 5 will be quite evenly matched.

Hammers to shade it....

Davey has a lot of 'off-track' stuff going on at the moment which is clearly getting into his head. It won't be long (hopefully) before he gets going!!
