Lakeside V Poole Ela. 8/04/16

Recommended Posts

Never saw that coming.

Well done to the Hammers looking dark horses already.

Poole made to look very ordinary - will be surprised many teams will do that this season.

Really enjoyed that, AJ at the minute really is top class and I would pay the entrance money just to watch him to be honest. Good job by everyone except Mear obviously who is struggling badly. Good to see both Kerr and Bridger get it together after shaky starts. Bridger's last two rides was class just flying around the fence. Hope that's the start of things to come for the revolution boys.

Only worry is Rob Mear. Sounds like he is making starts but just getting passed easily.

That is exactly what is happening, just had no speed. He scored well against Kings Lynn on a dusty track with hardly any overtaking but been very poor since. He's not even close to being on the pace.

17 (paid 19) points from the Poole reserves shows how much of an advantage they have over other teams. Still don't know how Poole managed to sign both! Just as well the rest of the team decided not to turn up

Got to agree with that statement. For Poole to only lose by 10 with Holder,Kurtz and Watt scoring 6 between them just shows that the reserves will have the main say in who wins the league again.

After a shaky start, a stonking win from the Hammers. Now, if they could just sort Rob Mear out

It's ridiculous. You don't sack a rider after 2 bad meetings! He just needs to sort out his head going by what he has said on twitter and Skidder saying he has some personal problems.

thats what years of success can do to fans - makes them expect it every week without fail ------ very fickle

as for this win it will give teams a false sense of hope , lakesides huge home advantage is what won this....

Poole reserves got 17 from 40. Not sure the formula is right. Poole lost but not sure the reserves should have so much importance in a meeting.

Amazing how people who weren't even there think they know what won the meeting.

Huge home advantage? Dave Watt knows his way round the place after three seasons there but didn't capitalise on it. Hans and Adam Ellis made a mockery of idea of huge home advantage. In fact Hans gave a really top class professional display, as he always does at Lakeside. If Holder and Watt showed his application it might have been a different story.

What won it was the Tatum effect. Lakeside have a history of fading in the latter stages of a match but what we are seeing this year is them keeping the pressure up all the way through. Pooles problem was that apart from Hans they were beaten in their minds once the Hammers got back into the match and their heads dropped.

From a Lakeside perspective it was a really good Speedwáy meeting. It had everything including a big crowd. Read what the neutral texter (Halifaxtiger) says on Speedwáy updates.

Early days yet and too soon to get carried away but the two Lewis' are gradually getting their Jawas sorted and things ( we hope) can only get better. Poole are still well and truly in the driving seat for the Championship but if the Hammers stay fit all those that predicted a bottom two finish for them may be in for a surprise.

Completely agree :approve: I thought to myself when Lakeside were 6 down they would just collapse but they came back amazingly fired up and Poole simply couldn't cope. Seems to me that was something in the pits that affected them all.

Bridger and Kerr more, perhaps, than most. Kerr pulled off a crucial win in heat 12 after busting a gut the last time out and Bridger's last two rides were just brilliant, showing how talented he is.

From a neutrals point of view, it was better than that :D. Cracking meeting with some brilliant racing, excellent presentation, no interval on a freezing night and all done in less than 90 minutes.

Take a bow, Lakeside Speedway.

When Poole scored a 1-5 in Heat 6 (their THIRD 1-5) I thought this meeting was only going one way.

What was really noticeable last night was the riders that were struggling early on for Lakeside upped their game as the meeting went on.

This was probably a mixture of the Tatum effect and bike changes.

What was REALLY clear last night was the Lakeside won the MAINBODY (top5) match by 44 points to Pooles 23 ?

I mentioned earlier that how Ellis can ride in the NL after looking as fast as most riders last night is beyond me.

So really good Speedway last night with AJ looking class,Bridger coming good late on,Swiderski showing that he is class riding for the right team.

Also Andersen showing that he is still a great rider.

Just a pity about the travelling over from Kent was such a nightmare and much colder than I thought it was going to be.

A great spedway meeting but the most pleasing thing from a Lakeside perspective was that all the team chipped in, with a real all round team effort, and some really gritty tenacious riding. Even Rob Mear, struggling for speed held Ellis and Newman up for a couple of laps in the vital heat 12 so Kerr could get clear and take command of the race. After that, Poole basically unravelled .

It takes two teams to make a good meeting though, and Poole are still a class act. This was no easy ride for the Hammers, they had to work for it.

Well done Lakeside..............I had it down as within 10 points either way...............

Shame that Chris and Davey had off nights..............I know Davey has a lot going on but I would have thought both would have scored more............but now is not the time to be talking team changes............

Its only our third league match and you cannot make changes based on 3 matches...............Chris has had good meetings up til last night but from what I recall he is not a fan of the Lakeside track................

When you have reserves scoring 17 and you still lose, it shows how bad your top 5 are.

Of course it's a specialist track but the top riders don't find it a problem. Hans came prepared but Chris Holder obviously didn't and to see him trailing in last and off the pace was not the Holder I expected to see. Did he bring the wrong equipment?
