Drop Woryna, bring in a 6.5 rider who scores 6 at #3, means a couple more points for King at 4 and means Sarj drops to reserve where he can score 4 or 5 rather than than 0s he's been scoring. We gain 5 or 6 points a meeting, the oppotiions lose 5 or 6 points a meeting thats a 10-12 point swing. Even last night with KK not beating anyone it would have meant us getting a point. Had KK turned up aswell then suddenly we're talking about turning a drubbing into a win. Thats how much of a difference one change can make. Speedway shouldn't be happy with 'just able to survive' mentality. The sport is suffering badly from poor lazy promoters, abysmal track preparation, awful stadiums. All adding to poor attedances. Gresham 928 Posted July 5, 2016 I think it is the bikes, I blame them for a lot of the sports current ills including the cost of actually riding the things. I remember Swindon being a really good track, same as Kings Lynn and that has also seem to have lost a lot of its spark whenever I have seen meetings from their on the telly. Also I don't know where this talk about Lakeside getting poor crowds has come from? bar the televised meetings the levels have been respectable, and the Poole match in the A fixture was very attended. I totally agree...I just don't get the mentality of the people that run the sport, or the riders for that matter. What's the point of having these high revving bikes, that are unpredictable and harder to ride? What do they achieve...apart from lining the wallets of engine tuners... Are they more entertaining to watch? Are crowds flocking to the sport, to see riders and bikes a few seconds faster than before? Are riders spending an absolute fortune to find that extra bit of speed? Dwindling crowds, less money in the sport, and engine costs going up...what's not to like? I get frustrated watching talented riders, having to focus and spend so much time and energy and money on finding the right 'set up' each meeting. It's a joke tbh. As a sport, how has it come to this. One of the GP riders recently said, that at that level they are all pretty much the same in ability...it's just who's found the best set up on that day....mental when you think about it. Basically, you are paying to watch a sport, where it's down to who's got the best engine. Great...rolls eyes. Last night I watched KK have an awful off night...It wasn't him, his riding ability...it was purely his bikes. It has become like F1 in many ways. Stick Hamilton in a Lotus and you just know he won't win, regardless of talent or being a racer. Gemini 4,894 Posted July 5, 2016 Well, that wasn't too cringeworthy, although I didn't watch any of the team manager's interviews except Gary's before heat 15. What a prat Woryna is acting like a 6 year old. Completely gone off him now. A couple of decisions could have made Coventry's score a bit closer. Bates making a good start ~ nothing wrong with it at all but got called back. Fed up with these lately as it's happening all the time. Also the race being immediately stopped while Bees were in front when Charles Wright was on his feet and ready to clear his bike from the track. Now I've seen it I must admit KK was genuinely trying hard in all of his races but was getting nowhere due to his second bike being so slow so I'll forgive him an off night. orion 7,615 Posted July 5, 2016 Worky used to get good crowds when i watched them 11-12 years ago, around 1200, but they are lower now. Cant see many pl clubs getting over 1000 now, although most el clubs do even swindon, whose crowds have almost halved from 10 years ago. I heard the worky crowds are not good now, you wonder how some pl clubs survive, when their average gates are nearly half of the elite clubs Spot on ..it's amazing that the game plan is to be like them . Justin and surprisingly Rohan did well, all we need now is a return to form for Morra. As for entertainment value, it was very poor.. Fromafar 10,361 Posted July 5, 2016 That was your average speedway meeting nowadays ,gate and you win, miss the gate and just sit at the back because you are not likely to pass anybody unless they make a mistake.EL or PL it doesn't matter.Smaller the track the better as the riders stay closer but still not much passing. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
