Is It To Late To Save The Elite League In The Uk?

Recommended Posts

How can you promote British ELITE league Speedway when the British World Champion doesn't want to race in it.

The Word Elite is so wrong and outdated

Leicester only have 3 Elite League matches at home left, + 1 British youth champs round and the NLRC and that's it! We aren't even into August yet....!!!!

That's not a full season, it's just 17/18 meetings at home.. if we'd have ridden every week at home, our season would have been over by the end if June!! (Mid March to end of June is not a season, well, it's just about spring! Forget Summer, and forget Autumn!!

No wonder regulars lose interest, it's no longer regular!!!

Makes me wonder if the season starts too early. A lot of meetings in March and early April are run in cold, damp conditions. And now schools are on holiday, teams have fewer fixtures.

When I first started going speedway, the season started in the last week of March, and had to be concluded before November 1st (a seven month season) if the number of 1st division clubs had remained at, crikey, can't remember how many they were in late 70's or early eighties, maybe 20? 23? That gave you 20+ league, maybe 6 or 7 other 2 team meets, a four team meet, am individual, a test match, and a round of the world qualifiers.... So what's that then? 31+/35+ home meetings.....

Riders didn't need to ride for 2 or 3 other clubs then. The constant watering down, and reduction of top division teams has forced riders elsewhere...

It has been said countless times already and, at the risk of repeating it, supporters want to see a team that they can identify with. They are sick to death with riders not appearing because they are riding for one of their other teams. They are also fed up with guest after guest and rider replacement.:sad:

The Word Elite is so wrong and outdated

The word Premier League likewise then is wrong and outdated.

Like when has British Speedway been promoted in the recent past??

Maybe if they had the likes of Tai would still be here, just a thought.
