I've got a better idea. Keep the nights that work for Speedway and don't bother about riders who can't commit to a full season in the UK. Let them go chasing glory in the G.P's, Poland, Denmark, Sweden etc. and let us get back to weekly meetings rather than one every 3 weeks in the height of Summer. Premier League standard? I'm perfectly happy with that as long as there is a much bigger league and a bit more variety than just 7 other teams like it is at the moment.

The elite league is propped up by double up riders from the PL as it stands. Most teams have two and meetings clash so no one sees full sides. Merging to one league or increasing the size of clubs is not going to stop guests and RR every week, if anything it would get worse. Only squads will replace that!

6 rider teams will mean you straight away get rid of 21 positions. If you assume every EL club has 2 or 3 doubled uppers that's 20 riders. Means no need for doubling up any more. Gets rid of part of the problem with guests and r/r.

What it also needs then is better fixture planning to avoid GP qualifiers, GPs and the Euros. I should be possible.

Also, if the leagues are brought closer together you can have a proper cup competition for those that want it.

I'd say the EL is propping up the PL just as much.

Squads is the way forward I agree.

Let those that wish to ply their trade in GPs, SEC, and foreign leagues get on their bikes and go, and leave us a British League for committed riders with meetings each and every week for the clubs

Perhaps not as many if the leagues amalgamate & we stop pandering to the few " superstars " that the Elite revolves around .

Obviously all depends on points limit etc but for under 40 points you can currently get KK, Bomber, Garrity, Kylmakorpi, Bates, Woryna and Sarj

Not much chance of that. They would need 6 new riders to join KK. You think Horton will fork out for that?

Not a snowballs chance...!!!

Try losing another 5 points then!

Squad systems will not work as there are not enough riders to go around for 7 rider teams so forget squads....

There needs to be 2 leagues of 10 teams - North and South - keep it mainly local so hopefully more bodies get through the turnstiles then have a big play-off scrap at the end of the season of North/South as well as a regional cup competition and a British Cup that combines all 20 teams.

Scrap the GP riders and those who do not want many meetings in the UK.

Restrict engine tuning so that its cheaper and that all riders will be able to run a machine with the same power - let the rider skill do the talking....

6-rider teams if you split it between North & South - its simple.... you can only get a guest rider from the opposite league so you won't see a Berwick rider guesting for Glasgow for example, and limit it, a rider can only guest for one other club 3 times per year that way clubs are not forever guesting the same rider.

take a look at my reply in the general boards

All that is much too sensible so it will never happen.

Right only one meeting to go so you would you keep for next season? Ideally KK, Harris, King, Garrity and Bates. Don't think KK will be back as it seems he's Poole bound. Will need a new number 1 and someone who can challenge King in that 3rd heatleader role (Kylmakorpi?). Much depends on rules for the bottom end but if it's one draft rider we have to keep Bates, he improved as the season went on.
