Why would they give Horton 200.000 for a name?

Horton hasn't or it hasn't been confermed yet got a promoter's license yet

£200 would be enough for him.

he was quoted as wanting 200k Edited by kingbee

So if thats the case, SS has a valid point. Why haven't they paid Horton off and run the team at Leicester.

Probably because future projects are more important at the minute? There is no guarantee that Horton will get a licence anyway, no point paying more for something when it can/will be cheaper in future.

People can't just come along and steal someones business as the owner ofCoventry speedway Horton can ask whatever price he sees fit to ask. Whether any prospective buyer would be willing to pay the price asked is up to them.

I am not defending Horton just making the point that laws are in place to stop people coming along and stealing businesses from lawful owners. Hopefully Horton will sell and both he and the buyer will be happy.

Up to Horton as the lawful owner to ask for whatever price he wants.

The last accounts to 30 Nov 2015 show a net worth of -£25,600 so he might be lucky to give it away.

Or you can set up a new company and the bspa give you the licence instead of Horton.

Accounts to Nov 30 2016 are late, they were due in August.

Yes the bspa could give a new consortium a licence. But they (bspa) would be wide open to being sued for more money than they have.

If, say, they refused to give Horton a licence, and there’s no reason why they wouldn’t, he could just sell the club to a family member who would then apply for a licence.

The only legal way new owners can come in is if they buy the club from Horton. There’s no getting over this fact. And they can’t call themselves Brandon Wasps either, or operate within 30 miles of Coventry as each licence has distance protection.

What some think could happen is the equivelent to someone knocking on your door. You open it and in they stroll in and say they are now going to live here now and you have no rights.

I am not trying to stir the pot. Just saying it as it more or less is. And because Coventry made a 25 grand loss means nothing. Horton could have offset debts/profits from his other businesses. The value of Coventry speedway has very little to do with yearly accounts.

It didnt stop Keith Chapman with Belle Vue & Leicester.

Both owners had brought the sport into disrepute. Belle Vue for failing to pay any rent (they were basically dead in the water) and Leicester with the promoter refusing to pay his fine and attacking an official.

SS you State “Each Licence as a distance protection” and mention 30 miles,so how come Peterborough changed there race day to a Sunday the same as Mildenhall, and that’s much less than 30 miles, but yet The BSPA allowed it.

For distances to be less, I believe the promoter who has been there the longest can say its ok. Otherwise how would Cradley and Wolves worked out?
