TheSmiler 420 Posted November 30, 2016 Fantastic news however I'm remaining sceptical until March. Feels like I'm on an emotional roller coaster here... Â Thank god they've sorted their sh*t out somewhat. Now let's see how much sandhu actually puts back in...

Lord Skid 425 Posted November 30, 2016 If the name Horton is ever mentioned, it only ever means one thing, chaos and crisis, and somebody being shafted.
Daryl 4 Posted November 30, 2016 Absolutely fantastic news😀😀. I wasn't that happy with the team we had but after the last few days it's made me realise just how much I would miss the speedway up at Brandon. I really do hope everyone gets behind the team now and we can have a fairly successful season and just enjoy the last few years at this great venue.
Steve Shovlar 10,439 Posted November 30, 2016 I now really hope both parties now honor their agreement. It has been very unfair on the Coventry fans and the whole episode could have been avoided. Two men with no doubt huge egos and neither wanted to back down led to this sorry mess. Â Keeping everything crossed for the suffering Coventry fans.
Woz01 3,589 Posted November 30, 2016 (edited) It's brilliant news but I won't be 100% convinced until tapes up. We've had so many ups and downs recently. Hopefully this can finally be a start where Horton and Sandhu actually work together for the benefit of both sports in the Coventry area. That is absolutely vital going forward. Â Many thanks to Cllr Stokes who has again gone above and beyond to help keep the sports going. He's not bad for a tory 😂 Edited November 30, 2016 by woz01
Little Thumper 528 Posted November 30, 2016 From Cllr Michael Stokes FB:  Brandon Stadium Statement  Following the issues over the last few days, I again offered to facilitate talks between the interested parties. I am pleased to say that both Mr Sandhu and Mr Horton were both very receptive to holding further discussions and engaged fully.  This has been a very difficult and complicated situation and neither Sandhu or Horton own the land and there were some legalities at play around the end of leases. Of course the actions over the last few days have been concerning to local residents and fans and have been widely reported on social media and in the local news outlets. However, after listening fully to both sides, it was seen as a necessary step in order to protect the assets. I am confident this was neither a negotiating tactic or an act of spite.  Talks were difficult and went on well into the night. Both Sandhu and Horton have a clear passion for motorsport and Brandon Stadium and through this passion both parties were able to overcome the contractual issues.  Therefore, I am very pleased to say I was able to successfully facilitate talks that led to an agreement being reached by both parties. Mr Sandhu has agreed to put the stadium back to an operational state and both Stockcars and The Bees will be racing at the stadium in 2017.  I would now call upon all the fans and supporters to rally round your teams and show your support in 2017. This is an exceptional reprieve and an opportunity that should not be wasted.  Well, that would appear to be good news.  Obviously, we will look forward eagerly to the two parties involved in this debacle issuing statements which confirm that their interpretation of the situation is in accordance with the opinion expressed by Cllr Stokes.  It seems quite amazing that a couple of three hours of discussion has relatively easily resolved a situation that appeared so dire. Just a pity that the parties involved hadn't got together a little earlier and then perhaps there wouldn't have been the need to send the wrecking crew in.  Cautiously optimistic.

HertsRacer 222 Posted November 30, 2016 Think everybody needs to say a huge thank you to Cllr Michael Stokes. Without his efforts there would almost certainly have been no speedway at Brandon next year.
lisa-colette 6,018 Posted November 30, 2016 (edited) Honestly didn't see this coming! Fantastic news, although i'm still wary of any unforeseen holdupsI agree with this, as with the new Swindon stadium actions speak louder than words.Yes Coventry, lets see you get back to the Old bees and back towards the top of the table. Ummm, that's taking things a bit far. They can be happy with mid table! Edited November 30, 2016 by lisa-colette
