philfromcov 326 Posted March 3, 2017 Really, the Speedway ran in perfect harmony for 80 years before Sandhu arrived, of course he wanted to build houses, but he was still accepted into the BSPA to run the Bees. As for your claim to being supporter friendly, don't think so, it was all a game to him to achieve his ultimate aim. He destroyed the stadium by making it unusable he made promises that he continually failed to keep. There was no way with Sandhu in charge that would see the Bees flourish, he was bad news from Day 1. He may be a successful businessman but where is the morality and decency of his actions. Actually he wasn't accepted. we had to have that old white haired bloke (cant remember his name!) as a go between. only one thing is certain with speedway and that is chaos. The idea that it was all good for 80 years is something Donald Trump would brief about,
Sir Jasper 192 Posted March 3, 2017 Challenge meetings are done often but at the top 2 levels it's usually the opening meeting of a season thus bringing in decent crowds due to the winter break. Most challenge matches that take place throughout the season tend to be of NL standard. Fact, when the real stuff starts Premiership / Championship fans of the host club will not be interested. That may come across as harsh with the position Coventry are in but that's how it is. Totally true, and in actual fact the riders are the same, the racing goes up a notch when a league or cup is on the line...
Gemini 4,894 Posted March 3, 2017 We are talking about the same Sandhu that was so far in debt that the bank sold the stadium from underneath him right? No not that Sandhu. This was the partner he claimed he never had as he owned the stadium 100% himself.

Steve Shovlar 10,424 Posted March 4, 2017 It's this Friday coming Steve. OK. So given that its an extra week, have they now made the sensible decision to change to a Saturday?
Woz01 3,589 Posted March 4, 2017 OK. So given that its an extra week, have they now made the sensible decision to change to a Saturday? Nope still Friday. The say that they can't do it at the weekend for whatever reason.
The White Knight 9,039 Posted March 4, 2017 Nope still Friday. The say that they can't do it at the weekend for whatever reason. I would have thought the most sensible decision would be at the Weekend if you want to maximise your Support. People have work commitments, school runs and many other things to do on a weekday. Anyway - I sincerely hope you get a huge turnout whenever you have it.
Steve Shovlar 10,424 Posted March 4, 2017 Nope still Friday. The say that they can't do it at the weekend for whatever reason. Absolutely ludicrous. If the photographer isnt available on a Saturday I am sure someones got a camera and a ladder to take a few snaps for the local rag.
Danny Connor 351 Posted March 4, 2017 Why not all have a mass gathering outside the stadium on a regular basis. Saturday makes sense. Bring your own cameras banners, megaphones. Do it weekly or fortnightly. Protest. Make sure the speedway message is loud. Then you can't be forgotten. If it doesn't help prevent the planning permission then at least it will put pressure on those that matter to assist in speeding up a new location. If anybody has the original fixture list with the provisional home speedway dates these would be perfect! And if it means it causes traffic congestion in the area even better. Keep it clean. But make some noise. ?

Let's hope that more than a bakers dozen can be motivated to turn up on their Saturday Nights out, to a car park outside a derelict stadium in the middle of rural Warwickshire to scream and shout at nobody who's listening.
Lord Skid 425 Posted March 5, 2017 If you can't get a mass gathering for an EL match, what makes you think people will turn up for a protest, unless they think the local TV might be there, and they night be on the tele.
pine490 15 Posted March 5, 2017 I think I may know the answer already, but why does the SCB web site still have all of Coventry's fixtures listed on its calendar for the season? David https://speedwayprogrammes.wordpress.com

To be honest we will have speedway and Stox fans plus local residents involved too. It is hoped that around April time we will do something similar but this time in the City Centre.
