Belle Vue V Lakeside Wed 3rd August

Recommended Posts

Ian and Buxton tiger. I'm sorry but you haven't got a clue arseholes.

Ajs bikes and mechanic etc were in pits awaiting his arrival. They only found out at about 6pm he wasn't riding. Half 6 it was announced.

GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT OR BREAK OFF

anyway some top class racing game last night despite the scoreline line.

Hey Phil, thank you for your kind words, you sound like a really nice bloke. I hope you will be happy standing by yourself in a brand new empty stadium wondering where all the fans are, not realising that they're all fed up of being continually mugged off by so called speedway promoters

Didn't Tatum say on club website that AJ didn't travel to England? Surely if that's true both clubs would have known before 6pm? Unless he was due to land after 6pm then get to stadium, don't think so. Iam pretty sure no Lakeside fan would have bothered going all that way in what was always going to be a one sided pathetic hammering without AJ. Edited by liam

If you don't like what's on offer you can always try elsewhere, mind, you will find the same scenario when riders from overseas send late messages about their absence.

I arrived just in time due to working late to find AJ mIssing, yes I was sorry he wasn't there, but a great win at a great track, with great racing that we witness every meeting and facilities bettered nowhere else in the EL,PL make me proud to follow the Aces and thankful we have promoters who have fought tooth and nail to bring this to Belle Vue.

If Poole were in the same position, would your management been keen to give your likely Play-off final opponents practice on your track? Didn't Belle Vue win at Poole in the only fixture I am aware of between the two teams this year? Holder & Kurtz were pretty useless last Friday, Holder was probably worse on Saturday. If Belle Vue can finish top of the EL by the time the Play-offs kick in without arranging home meetings against their likely play-off opponents. Fair play. Besides Poole can't even win away at Coventry, where every other team seems to.

Both BV v Poole meetings now in the schedule. Bank Holiday Monday and Monday 12th September - the latter on Sky I understand!!?

Think it will take more than that since the turn of the century Belle vue have finished in the bottom 3 for 10 seasons inc 5 wooden spoons and that did not put us off we are still going.BELLE VUE FANS STAND BY THEIR CLUB,and for what our promoters have done for us we will always stand by them.(with a little whinge every now and then).

Have you seen the average age of your fan base?

That seems to be a problem with most clubs. The sport does need to attrack younger fans i am trying to do my part and brought my two great nephews to their first meeting on wednesday they both liked it and want to come again fingers crossed they get the bug.

But on a lighter more selfish note i am 59 myself and speedway as it is with its older end fan base problems should see me out so i will leave that problem to you younger ones.

I'm not that far behind you... just hope it see me out too

It's alright trying to get kids in (for a quid maybe) but the kids I generally see at speedway seem less than interested in what's going on. There was a young lad next to me on Wednesday and all he seemed to be interested in doing was anything but watching what was going on out on the track! It seemed that trying to unpick the green mesh fencing along the back of the south stand was more interesting than the Speedway! And I see this with a lot of kids. The promotion (and I mean all speedway promoters) need to be targeting the late teens/early twenty something's, they are the ones that will develop an interest and not just see it as a one off night out going along with dad (or mum) and they are the ones who will make their own decision on whether to return or not. Just look at the average age of Polish speedway supporters.

Couldn't agree more about targeting the late teens and twenty-somethings!!

The powers that be need to re-think and re-package their product! Its not a 'nice family sport' anymore its 'professional. high speed, extreme motor sport' and should be heavily promoted as such.

How about a bit of 'reverse psychology promotion' and try banning all 'Under 16's' ??!!:wink:

That's not a bad shout!! They'd have to be there then, as it would be the cool place to be... Same with pubs, clubs, X rated films, buying fags, booze, porn......!!

If they are not supposed to have it, or be there, they'll have it and be there!!!!!

Always thought the family sport bit is wrong, can't think of another sport more extreme or dangerous and should be promoted as such. Nasty, dangerous and some riders even have tattoos!
