Gave up watching after the first ball, after that it was pretty obvious what was going to happen. Hopefully the rain keeps coming and they can escape with a draw, even a bit of a fightback ending in a reasonably close defeat wouldn't be too bad. A heavy win for Australia though and it's inevitable this series will become another embarrassing one.

Australia rattled along in the 1st session.

Obviously conditions, experience, recent playing time all big factors that haven't helped England

However in reality it just highlights the real gulf in class between Australia's test batting line up and England's.

The England test batting line up is mediocre at best.

Can't really expect him to be at his best when he is not playing much cricket. 

They have treated him appallingly, but it also highlights that we haven't got many ideas

Selecting 2 players in Stokes/Leach  who haven't bowled for ages.

Australia must have been delighted.

Some of the decision making has been bizarre to say the least. It really makes you wonder if Silverwood and Root are the right combination going forward.

Frustrating that in recent times these efforts have only really been when desperately trying to claw back into games rather than setting up a good chance of victory

Yep agree although I'd say the first inni gs was very much a case of under preparedness and rustiness. Usual story for tours unfortunately.

Undoubtedly we are under prepared and very rusty, but also a fair bit of poor shot selection.

Today was a pleasant surprise, Malan & Root have done very well to fight back but tomorrow is another day, we have to start all over again, bat time as well as score runs.

1 day playing well out of 4 isn't a surprise.

Just a shambles of a batting line up.

 

As a Glammy fan its frankly disgraceful that ex players like KP can even suggest we aren't good enough because of the domestic structure when an average Australian all rounder can become the 5th best batsman in the world after Smith, Kohli, Root & Williamson

So so tired of the excuses delivered for the team.

When in reality they are bang average

Keep saying the same thing but selection/tactics seem odd yet again. Bowled pretty well to be fair, let down by fielding as usual and just didn't have that bit of luck you need sometimes. 

For all the talk of planning ahead for this series though we've ended up playing 5 right-arm fast-medium seamers. Sure injuries haven't helped but there's still options. I get the need to rest Wood but if we don't win this match the series is basically done anyway so he should be playing. You need a spinner, Leach should have been backed but if not at least give Bess a go instead.
