Peterborough Panthers 2017

Recommended Posts

I am the only one who is surprised by these quotes, re first choice riders?

Quoted from the Peterborough Today

Swales insists the latest pair of arrivals leave Panthers in the enviable position of having been able to attract all of their first-choice targets.

Quoted from the Peterborough Official website.

"We are in the brilliant position of having been able to put together the side that we all wanted."

Depends how long you've been going. If it's 20 years then yes I'm surprised that you're surprised.

Diplomatic quote , how many times I have heard that I don't care to remember, but I suppose one year it might come true and still nobody will believe it

I just don't think we should write the season off before a wheel has been turned.... Let's get behind the team.

Up the Panthers.

Nothing wrong with that team, will be box office at home. If young Holder kicks on a point or so i think it could be a very good season. Well done Ged...

Where has the BWD rumour come from? Reason I ask is that the rumour I heard suggest he WONT be at Peterborough.

Got that one wrong!

Odd that after the agro around buying him that Somerset haven't used him this season though.

Interesting side that could develop during the season

One thing for sure is that the standard of racing will no doubt be top notch as usual..one of my favourite tracks.

looking at the borrowers side on paper .

wait for it !

they look a very good side and it will be a great season for panthers fans as long as they dont fall at the first hurdle . i can see 3rd or 4th in the play offs .

one lucky fan base to have this kind of person in charge . also looking forward to our 3 points away at your track cos we could be better than you . lol.

there, a good post from me to you , from you to me . ya know how it goes . J..

To be fair I think it's more likely we will win at your track

I rather think the management have given a lot of thought to the make up of this years team taking into account how previous teams have done from being solid or top heavy, the 2017 is clearly solid with a good reserve at all times coupled with the arrival of two Showground specialists, their cannot be many 2017 sides who can say with any optimism that all 7 can increase their starting averages.

Why do you insist on referring to Panthers as "borrowers" over and over and over again? Is it because you think the phonetic similarity of "borough/borrow" is witty and clever? (It's neither!). Maybe you get a kick out of using a thinly-veiled derogatory term for our club - which, if challenged, you try to pass off as mere banter. Once or twice might be taken as banter (just) but after the umpteenth time it really begins to grate.

Yes, Ged chopped and changed the line-up quite a lot last season. The injury to Simon Lambert triggered the whole chain of events - and it's inevitable that when you replace riders some of the replacement signings will be "on loan" from somewhere or other. That's just the way it is. The biggest furore arose when Cook came in, but he was mad-keen to get rides, so how does that fit with the "borrowers" jibe? It doesn't stack up at all.

Let's have it right; Panthers' history of using riders on loan is no different to any other club. In fact, it wasn't so long ago that we had a fairly big list of riders on the books, and most of them were away on loan at other clubs. Did we moan or make barely concealed snide remarks about them using 'our' riders? Nope; it's just part and parcel of speedway.

"Borrowers" my ar5e!

Because you have "Cookie". - you must be joking - yes he's a good rider but just look at how many home maximums he scored - not as many as I had hoped and expected from a No. 1 on such a high average. From the Club's beginning we have had some cracking No. 1 riders - Mick Poole, Ryan Sullivan, Jason Crump, Hans Andersen to name a few - riders who when Heat 15 came around you had confidence in - sadly Cookie did not fall into that category for me - others may think differently.
