Poole Sign Lindback

Recommended Posts

I m o the play offs are no longer about sport they are about the money.

So yes the BSPA are going to come up with an average for Lindback that allows him to ride in Britain just for the play offs. A G P rider should put bums on seats so potentialy more money for the sport.Sky will be over the moon to have a G P rider on there screens.Sky inject money into speedway so keep them sweet and they will keep broadcasting Elite league speedway.

Only my opinion but what other realistic reason is there for Giving a rider of Linback's class an assessed 7 point average when the likes of Cook and king have achieved an higher average over a full season.Perhaps one of them should get seeded into the GPs next year seeing as they are(as far as the BSPA are concerend)better riders than Lindback.

Play offs have always been about money ...without money there is no speedway

And thats why most people who turn up for the play offs have given up on league speedway and do not go throughout the season they just wait until the circus is in town.

PS there is nothing wrong with the play offs Poland and Sweden seem to do fine. Its the way that we do it in Britain that is the problem. We make them a joke most years by having rules that allow teams to strengthen up to near the play offs, and changing assed rider rules to allow a rider of Lindback class in on a 7 point average.Which every fan in the country bar Poole fans know is b/s.

Speedway is a sport so keep it fair and keep fans of all clubs happy the play offs will still get big crowds.

I would have thought so, as per my query to him above. But his post, to which I responded, didn't seem to indicate they were going to try to find out.

Can't understand why not, it's a question every Star reader wants answered ...

I've always said crowds are down for league meetings as they are just qualifiers for the knockout cup bit and I'm right. I've always said crowds are down even further when teams have already qualified for the knockout cup bit and I'm right. Someone said fans don't go to qualifiers because they are saving money for the knockout cup bit and they are probably right. Someone said fans didn't go to qualifiers at Belle Vue because they have crammed 6 meetings in 21 days, despite over 50 days of the season remaining, and they are probably right.

I reckon all those reasons added together could easily have cost Belle Vue up to 20,000 fans through the gate over the last 6 home meetings. TWENTY THOUSAND FANS! That's around £300,000 in lost revenue, THREE HUNDRED THOUSAND POUNDS!!

The play offs are definitely about the money all right!

Nope, its been ratified, so TOUGH.

So has the decision about riding at Poole first tomorrow night but you kept droning on about having an explanation for that even though an explanation had been given!

Exactly right. That's why speedway is the only sport to have play offs...

'It must be right because everyone else is doing it' is easily the most vacuous and moronic reason for doing something isn't it?

The only other sport I've been involved in this kind of discussion is rugby union. I was justifying the qualifier and cup format simply because the figures easily stacked up, they don't in speedway because we don't have a 70,000 crowd for the final do we?

Another question you won't be able to answer no doubt?

It's strange every year something a bit dodgy seems to happen with Poole. Every time the decision seems legal but not quite right. Every year I want anyone to win except Poole because something doesn't seem quite right. Just putting my thoughts out as an outsider

What a pathetic polite little man you really are. Isn't it strange that the whole country can see the damaging effects that Lindback has done to our sport, all except the blue rinse brigade. If you had a ounce of common sense you will see the damage it does, but your so wrapped up in your own importance you fail to see anything, and that's real sad........

As a matter of fact, the next time I speak with Buster, I will personally ask him for an explanation. When Buster was elected as Chairman, I thought he was the one person who could make a difference. Now I'm not so sure.............

Chapman could make a difference but at the moment appears either to be choosing not to or, of being incapable of doing so. I know he said it would takes time and that it is next year when we are to see the fruits of his efforts but surely he could either have stopped the Lindback farce and the damage it is doing to the credibility of the sport or, if he agrees with the assessed average, provide an explanation. Particularly, in view of his promise of openness and transparency.

Good pleased to hear that. And just to add, we are in it to win it, not finish 2nd 3rd or 4th. Oh, and the same applies to Woffenden then ;) Shame your bunch of cowboys havn't got the same outlook and will to win...
