Recommended Posts

2016 N.J.L. 4 Team Tournament Final.

After great work by the track staff with the track looking excellent the four teams lined up as follows;

Northside ' Hartburn Garage' Stars,

Cleveland ' Pioneer m/cycles' Bays,

Berwick ' Ferrow Decorators & A1 Cabs' Border Raiders

Halifax ' Golden Fleece' Dukes.

Heat 1 saw some close action contact between the 500 boys of the Stars and the Bays. After some argy bargy between James Hitchen and Gavin Parr , Parr bit the dust on the pits bend with the ref ( Mr. Michael Breckon ) deciding Hitchens lunge was the cause meaning a 3-3 heat result.

Heat 2 saw a Kev Whelan win to give the Raiders a 4-2 advantage over the Dukes.

A Heat 3 win for Joe Thompson got the Bays a 3-3 with the Stars 125 boys.

Heat 4 saw all action Luke Harrison take another win for the Raiders over the Dukes pair of Palin and H.McGurk.

Heat 5 saw a 5-1 from impressive George Rothery and James Hitchen over the Dukes Dicken and Davis.

Heat 6 was a drawn race, 3-3 between the Raiders and Bays with a Whelan win, putting the team running totals;

Stars 11, Bays 9, Raiders 10, Dukes 6.....anybody's title!

Heat 7 saw the Dukes hit back with a 5-1 from H.McGurk and Palin over the Stars Pavitt and Millar.

The eigth heat was the race of the meeting.

Raiders sole rider Luke Harrison and Bays ace Joe Thompson never more than inches apart and swopping places every bend with Thompson just taking it with an inside pass exiting bend four, a fantastic race, 4-2 to the Bays.

Race 9 was another race win for Whelan as Rothery fell whilst behind giving a 4-2 to the Raiders side over the Stars.

Race 10: saw the Bays Lewis Millar come to life leading the race when Kean Dicken took an alarming lunge into the air fence exiting bend two resulting in an awarded 5-1 to the Bays and a delay to the meeting as the air fence required replacing. Luckily Kean escaped with minor bruising.

The penultimate race saw Harrison again impress with a race win for the Raiders to the screams of their supporters, 3-3 with the Stars.

With one race to go the scores were;

Stars 17, Bays 18, Raiders 19, Dukes 12

The final heat was between the Bays and the Dukes and Joe Thompson and Jack Shimelt saw the Bays home with a 4-2 race win giving the 2016 Nothern Junior League 4 Team Tournament title to the Cleveland Bays.

With the Best of British Youth Speedway on show, this event is nothing more than spectacular.

Big thank you to all who helped, organised and financially supported it.

The whole event would not have been possible without Kevin Keay and his tireless efforts to make it happen.

Well done Kevin and thank you from everyone at Halifax.
