Steve0 5,517 Posted September 27, 2016 I wonder how many pages this thread will go into if Poole have booked Bomber for Bjarne??!! Now that would be the ultimate p!sstake. Replacing someone who has been a reserve for the last month and unlikely to score (m)any points in the no 5 position with a track specialist. Meltdown is a word that springs to mind! Two other words would be CHEATING SCUMBAGS!
Grachan 7,314 Posted September 27, 2016 (edited) You mean he came in on his 2014 REAL average. And YES he was that poor in 2014 in the EL, anyone claiming it is false clearly has selective memory issues. Riders SHOULD come in on their real averages if they have ridden here before. You either use riders true averages (Lindback was 7.94) like wolves did with Tai or you use their average from meetings ridden that they failed to complete enough matches for a new one like Wolves did with Piotr in 2014. Both can't be right so which is your preference FB? You defeated yourself with your own argument there Steve. Using that theory Lindback should be lower than 7. marko 955 Posted September 27, 2016 It's blatant short sightedness by the promoters to allow a system where by a rider on an inflated average from riding at reserve or second string can be replaced by a rider on a falsely low average from riding as a heat leader.
stevebrum 6,819 Posted September 27, 2016 His last real average was attained while at Belle Vue, if the averages had been worked out then as they are now then it would be much lower, he did 11 meetings so it should be assessed on that. which would make Tai's 2014 average even more credible. You defeated yourself with your own argument there Steve. Using that theory Lindback should be lower than 7. I only want a fair and credible assessment when it comes to regrading. IF Lindback had come back on his lower average it would have made more sense than the ridiculous 7 point figure. We either regrade EVERYONE fairly so that all clubs get fair treatment or we carry on making up rules to suit. IMHO anyone coming back to British speedway or doesn't have a recent average should be an 8, that would include Woffy. Some Poole fans are somehow using Tai's real average as a credible argument in defence of this 7 point assessment when let's face it if Antonio came back on his 6 something average gained at belle Vue they would be in no position to judge. My argument is with those making these ridiculous rulings and not any one club or rider.
sandking072 151 Posted September 27, 2016 Any team news yet? Yes. In a clever piece of team manipulation, Hancock comes in at reserve for Clegg. Sorry, I mean Harris for Thorssell.

And if it happens to be Belle Vue v Poole in the Grand Final then the same will happen at the NSS with Tungate I presume? I've been reading a thread on the Belle Vue Fans Forum about the lack of coverage the Aces (and Colts) get in the Manchester Evening News. Perhaps, with such as the above going on; the chosen restaging date of our Elite League Play-Off semi-finals is the same night at the Swedish Play-Off Final meaning rides are missing; only twice in 14 Elite League matches at the NSS was there a full declared Belle Vue 1-7 v a full Opponents declared 1-7 and that one of the Aces heat leaders will have actually raced only 7 out of 15 home matches after tomorrow night, the folks who run the MEN and decide what to include in their newspaper have concluded speedway is just too much of a mickey-mouse sport to be taken seriously?

This thread is a perfect example of why the sport isn't taken seriously. It's not the overcomplicated rules, (all sports have them), it's the anorak wearing nerd like obsession of grown men bitching over decimal points of averages. No wonder we can't attract new young fans, it's embarrassing.
sparkafag 746 Posted September 27, 2016 This thread is a perfect example of why the sport isn't taken seriously. It's not the overcomplicated rules, (all sports have them), it's the anorak wearing nerd like obsession of grown men bitching over decimal points of averages. No wonder we can't attract new young fans, it's embarrassing. Speedway’s issues with attracting new fans are nothing to do with this forum, in the grand scheme of things no one cares what is said on here because the number of users is so low. The idea that bickering and bitching is exclusive to this forum is also a bit daft, that’s generally how the internet functions – so no, the “it’s all the geeks fault” line won’t put a stop to people commenting on all the nonsense of the last few days…
Fourentee 987 Posted September 27, 2016 But still not as daft as the World Champion coming in on a 7.03 average. A rider can vastly improve in two years so all averages should be assessed for riders who have missed one season. You can't have it both ways. Wolves fans had to suffer during the season in which Woffinden attained that average. Now they get at least some benefit.
