The thing with Davey is he had a few poor seasons because of stuff away from speedway which none of us fans were privvy to, so ok I think he could be given a belated pass for that, but after sorting his life out and claiming to be in a better place now than for many a year, so unless its down to poor machinery there is no excuses left, reminds me so much of what happened to his mate Adam Shields.

Fancy Lynn to win tomorrow. Two home defeats in the first three fixtures would be very damaging for business. With Poole then visiting the week after it looks even worse. Season could be over by end of April.

The problem is Robbo and Watt are taking up nearly 15 points on averages & are nowhere near that. We do not have enough heat winners away from home either all season with this team.

I don't trust the promotion to make changes if it all goes ** up. Jenson & Schroeck seem very wet behind the ears still.

The main body of the Rye team is full of 'big name' riders who are past their best. A top 5 of ex-Bees who had their best years at Brandon and Davey Watt who has struggled for a few years now.

Get the Rye track grippy and they'll be ok at home, but they'll struggle away.

I couldn't understand the optimism before the season.

The Bees team for 2017 was miles better. I didn't rate it particularly highly at first, but over time, it grew on me. I think it would have done ok.

RYE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE: By CRAIG SAUL

:::::

MATCH OFF, GAME ON!

The BMR Rockets suffered their postponement of the new season tonight, as their scheduled SGB Premiership clash at King’s Lynn fell victim to wet weather.
The meeting’s start was initially delayed until 8pm, but with heavy rain continuing to fall, there was little option but call the fixture off just ahead of that new slot.
The postponement means that tomorrow’s “return” clash at Hoddesdon will now be the first A10 local derby between the two arch-rivals since 2010, as the Stars head into town led by 2012 World Champion Chris Holder, fellow recent Premiership Pairs winner – and Rye House track record holder – Robert Lambert and former Australian and Elite League Riders’ Champion Troy Batchelor.
Team Manager Peter Schroeck is looking forward to it. “There was a really good crowd and atmosphere building at Lynn prior to the call-off, and I am sure that that will translate to our place tomorrow night.
“So many supporters have told me about the special rivalry between the Rockets and Stars in the past, and there’s no doubt it will be back in force tomorrow, not just in terms of the atmosphere in the stands but also the way all the riders will raise their game.
“It’s all about bragging rights.
“It was disappointing to go out of the Cup, but it’s back to the League now. Ultimately, that’s what we are here for. A lot more positives than negatives came out of our match at Swindon, and based on the mood in the pits at Lynn the boys are full of confidence again.
“They are definitely up for this one.”
BMR Rockets:
Rob Branford, Chris Harris, Edward Kennett (captain), Scott Nicholls, Ellis Perks, Stuart Robson, Davey Watt

King’s Lynn:
Josh Bailey, Troy Batchelor, Chris Holder, Kai Huckenbeck, Robert Lambert (captain), Nicklas Porsing, Lewis Rose

Admission: Adults £18, Seniors (over 60s) £16, Full Time Students (17-22) £10, Children (12-16) £6, Children (under 12) Free. Match Programme £2.00

In addition to the main event, the meeting will include six youth races across 150cc and 250cc classifications.

RYE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE: By CRAIG SAUL

::::::::

KENNETT MAX AS ROCKETS OUTSHINE STARS

A faultless five ride maximum from Edward Kennett proved pivotal as the BMR Rockets bounced back from their Cup exit to outflank King’s Lynn 50-42 in the first local derby between the two sides since 2010.
The Rye House captain’s full house was not only instrumental; it also anchored the Rockets at key stages in the match. Team Manager Peter Shroeck had called beforehand for a quick start from his side, but even he couldn’t have expected the explosive opening he would receive in return, as Kennett and Stuart Robson outpaced 2012 World Champion Chris Holder and the otherwise impressive Lewis Rose for a 5-1 in Heat 1. Further maximums from the combinations of Rob Branford-Ellis perks (Heat 2) and Scott Nicholls-Perks (Heat 4) swiftly followed to elevate the score to 18-16, and Chris Harris then saw off Holders’ challenge as a double pointed TR prior to Kennett’s next appearance to head home ex-Rocket Robert Lambert in Heat 6 which took Rye to a commanding 25-13 advantage.
Game over? No, as the Stars then roared back into contention to pull back to 30-26 within the next three stanzas, before Kennett steadied the ship by taking Heat 10. With Robson third behind Nicklas Porsing and ahead of Troy Batchelor, the Rockets regained a 6 point cushion again, and one which they never surrendered.
Another 4-2 from Kennett and Scott Nicholls followed in a high octane Heat 13 against the League’s official best pair of Holder and Lambert to lift the score to 44-36, and after Perks and Branford had clinched the victory by following home Batchelor in the next race, the Rye House No.1 set the seal on this club’s A10 bragging rights by taking the finale to blank out any hopes the Stars had of a consolation match point.
Harris was a faller in that final race, but otherwise contributed 10 points, with Nicholls adding 8 and Robson further important top end back-up with 6+1. It proved another difficult night for Davey Watt, who failed to score and also crashed out of Heat 9 when desperately holding off Lambert for second place, and also for Rob Branford, whose Heat 2 victory was balanced by a later fall and a frustrating Heat 7 exclusion for exceeding the two minute time allowance for wearing the wrong helmet colour.
Fortunately for Rye, those negatives were compensated for by another sensational performance by Ellis Perks. The newly qualified British U-21 Finalist blasted paid 10, watched on by proud father and former referee Robbie Perks, who is visiting from Australia for the next few weeks and who must have found the trek already worthwhile.
The final word, however, belonged to Edward Kennett, who looked back afterwards on what had been a match that had ebbed and flowed before ultimately proving uplifting experience for the Rockets.
“It’s always tough, everyone enjoys coming to Rye House and seems to ride it well, but after Swindon, we had a little chat and put that one behind us in order to move on with the League. That’s the one that’s really important, not just to the Team and myself, but to the promotion and the fans.
“We built such a large advantage early on before they came back at us, and then we pulled away again in the crucial heats like Heat 13. It’s obviously nice to finish on a high and get all the points.
“We pushed hard tonight, and my form is back on track. I’m only riding once a week, and this is only the fourth meeting I have done this year – but I am enjoying it. I’m enjoying riding the bike, and winning races has given me a big confidence boost.
“There was another massive crowd tonight, and what can I say? It’s brilliant, and hopefully they’ll all come back again next week. We try to put on the best show that we can, and winning at home is obviously a major thing as well.
“We’re already looking forward to Poole coming to town (on Saturday the 22nd). Every meeting is big, but there is no reason why we can’t do what we did tonight.”
BMR Rockets:
Edward Kennett 15 (5 rides, max), Chris Harris 10 (5), Scott Nicholls 8 (4), Ellis Perks 7+3 (5), Stuart Robson 6+1 (4), Rob Branford 4+1 (5), Davey Watt 0 (3)

King’s Lynn:
Nicklas Porsing 10+2 (5 rides), Troy Batchelor 9+1 (5), Chris Holder 8+1 (4 rides, inc 4 as a TR), Lewis Rose 6+1 (4), Robert Lambert 6 (4), Kai Huckenbeck 3 (5), Josh Bailey 0 (3)

Everyone likes riding Rye House Edward?

I can see what he means. Back in the day Rye House was a fortress. No teams liked coming here. The adverse camber on the first turn (no idea when that appeared) only made it worse. Over the years the mystique withered away and home defeats came more often as savvy riders gradually worked it out.

Of course, this may have had a something to do with some of the garbage sides we put out!!

Note Kennett also said, "nice to finish on a high and get all the points".

3 points for a home win no matter how many you win by these days Edward 😂

I think he meant that King's Lynn went back to Norfolk without any.

Is it still 4 home/4 away league meetings for the new averages to take effect?

Kings Lynn away on 24th May would be the fourth away meeting, unless the recent rain off is rescheduled before that date.

Too early to judge what this Rockets team will achieve. Looked very promising pre-season with lots of enthusiasm...so what's happened ? A good

first home win then a loss....it happens...don't panic. Watt cannot be that bad. He had a good Winter in Oz and I just think a bit of patience might

be the thing to do....
