Sky To Pull Out.

Recommended Posts

certainly an early contender for worst language of the year,no need for it,were all speedway fans.

When you've been on here a little longer and endured some of the rubbish that 'the target' posts, I'd be surprised if you don't agree before long. :t:

Never subscribed to SKY and never will.

Never subscribed to BT and never will. had enough problems with there phone service. An overpriced minority sports channel in my opinion. Bad move by BSPA if they had a choice. so much for trying to attract new people to the sport. I can't see BT's viewing figures matching those for sky.

As a BT Broadband customer, which I must admit has been excellent with a fast reliable speed, BT have just offered me the full BT Sport package discounted. The first 6 months are free and the remaining 6 months at £7-50 a month via the Sky platform. I do have a Sky box but not Skysport as its way too expensive for my viewing habits. I thought this was a good deal as it works out at only £3-75 a month spread over a 12 month period and I get to see lots of speedway on my big screen TV and I can record it if I'm not at home. I'd be interested to hear if we are getting Swedish Speedway on Eurosport again this year, as it was excellent in 2016. And before anybody asks, I'm not an armchair supporter but a regular at Saddlebow Road since the late 60's, but I still enjoy any TV coverage as well. Looking forward to it.

Never heard anyone describe Eurosport's coverage of the Swedish League as excellent before.

How can BT offer you BT Sport when you havnt got BT TV. Surely to get BT Sport on an active Sky box you have to go through Sky. Have you not thought of ditching Sky and getting a BT TV box - its cheaper I think.

SOMEONE has to negotiate a deal and Terry is very good at that.

One spokesperson for the speedway establishment cabale praising another in the cabale. So there's a surprise.

Who at the BSPA do you think could negotiate a deal with Sky/BT/whoever competantly enough to get a good deal?

Many high profile companies engage PR personnel managers/companies as it is a specialist field

No, I have basic Sky package and BT Broadband. You contact BT and they connect their Sports package through my Sky box for £7.50 a month (HD) I dont have BT TV as it hasnt got the Sky channels I watch..

Premier League Football, Champions League, Cricket, MotoGp and now Speedway all for less than a tenner a month... Not a bad deal that..

For the life of me I just don't understand why Sky and BT pay so much for the football rights. If I was Murdoch, I would ring up the boss of BT, meet up in a pub and knock out a deal that they offer the premier league ten percent of what they are currently offering. It would still be more than any other channel could offer so the Premier league would have to accept.

Result? More for minority sports, cheap subscriptions and everyones happy except the clubs who would have to offer their players more realistic wages.

Doesn't matter who owns it they should get together to knock out a deal between themselves.

Full BT Sports package - does this price include HD / 4K and multi-room?

Sky were never worried about BT, they panicked when rumours spread that a couple of big US and Middle East companies wanted the Premier League rights, so bid way over the top in a closed tender. In the end neither of the others bid and Sky were stuck. Without football there would be no Sky. Will be interesting to see what they do next time round when the Chinese express an interest.

Dont forget the premier league sell rights to many countries. Sky just have the rights for uk and Ireland. If a chinese company came in for the uk rights they would have to start from scratch with tv channels, a subscription service, advertising etc.
