Wolves V Belle Vue 18/4/17

Recommended Posts

It's an interesting question.

If my calculations are correct (they frequently aren't) teams will reach their 4 home and 4 away on the following dates

1st May - Belle Vue, Somerset

10th May - Poole

18th May - Swindon

19th May - Rye House

20th May - Leicester, Wolves

24th May - Kings Lynn

The benefit is with the later dates as they can still be making changes within the 50 point limit.

This doesn't (obviously) cater for rain off's and/or rearranged fixtures.

Belle Vue won't do 4 home/away till 24 May

Not sure that Poole complete 4 qualifying home league meetings til 7th June, Baz.

Does the KO Cup matches count, or is it league alone?

Yes, Belle Vue's new track is great - but all this Belle Vue supporters going on about "our track is better than your track nur nur nur" is getting a bit tedious, particularly as they has the worst track in the league for about 20 years beforehand.

That all sounds a little sour. I don't think anyone has suggested that.

The NSS is probably in the 5 top tracks in the world. This isn't about my daddy will beat your daddy, it's about using it as an example to move the sport forward in the UK.

Went last night and thought the racing wasn't very good at all. Feel as a regular at the NSS we have been spoiled so expectations as to what good racing is are raised. Also, for some there is a natural reaction for the years of criticism being directed to the Kirky Lane track and having to take it. It will pass. Did think however, that the crowd was small for what had been billed as an attractive fixture.

It's well prepared wolves, but it's a specialist track. Most passes are the direct consequence of a mistake. I didn't enjoy that one bit tonight. It was crap.

I've just got home and put the PC DVD in to watch some proper racing.

It's a bit rich a Belle Vue fan preaching to Wolves fans about the state of the track after the garbage we had to watch at the Greyhound Stadium year after year.

It's amazing what a year on a new track does to the memory it seems. :D:D

Anyone have any idea who it was practicing after the meeting?

I don't think it's that all all. Not unless all tracks rebuild a purpose build track and stadium which is not likely.

no track in the UK is like the NSS. So its tiresome to suggest every other track offers poor racing.

last night wasn't poor racing and Monmore is regularly voted best prepared track. That's no fluke it's proof that the racing is generally good.

What is sour is having Aces fans saying how poor the racing is because their track is so good, particularly given that you lost as well.

Well said.

It was Ryan Douglas.

Try this one.

# Monmore was always a better racing surface than Kirky Lane. They were comparable due to their respective sizes.

# Monmore and the NSS aren't comparable, they're chalk and cheese. The latter is undoubtedly on the way to being the best of it's type in the country. I say 'on the way' only because it would be unfair to judge it on the evidence of just one season's racing. The former has been the best prepared small track for many years.

Personally, I haven't been to a live speedway meeting for years but a meeting at the NSS is on the bucket list, it looks fun!

It was Ryan Douglas.

Was Ryan practising with a view to being a replacement & first step into the top league, and/or getting any tips on set ups for his use of his own GTR?

Have to admit I wasnt there lastnight but have missed very few meetings at Monmore over the last ten years. The racing is usually very good but there has been meetings where there isnt much to shout out about. For me thou, the missing ingredient is the love / hate characters we used to get. Now the racing is less unpredictable as everyone is so nice to each other. Pedersen, Andersen, Fisher, Garrity used to liven it up abit and create some tension.

Wolves is always well prepared. As it was again last night. Riders enjoy riding it. No one will dispute that.

I personally enjoyed the racing at murky lane. I diddnt think it was that all bad.

We can get poor meetings at NSS as good Friday showed.

I wasn't at all slating the wolves track just last night was rubbish. It diddnt help our boys not being able to ride the track and riding to wide

Taken from Berwick 2017 50th Year

Four home, four away before our riders' averages can be looked at.

Fourth away (league) match is at Ipswich next week, fourth home is also against the Witches on Saturday week.

Riders' figures then take effect seven days on -- which would be May 6th.

It, also, states Dimitri (who is injured), does get his average for 4H 4A until mid May earliest
