jenga 2,998 Posted July 22, 2017 (edited) That's why the Showground would be ideal. You could have a festival of speedway weekend, invite local musicians, maybe even the local Labour MP to make a speech. AND PUT PETERBOROUGH STRAIGHT INTO THE FINAL AS THE HOST CLUB . YOU REALLY ARE DESPERATE , ARNT YOU . what time did you get from redcar then ?any pics ? how is your red herring ? Edited July 22, 2017 by jenga
LagutaRacingFan 1,927 Posted July 22, 2017 i also think that running at another date will see a poor crowd Somerset aren't even in our league. Why should they be holding our event?

Yes great idea we could also incorporate it with the Christian faith weekend events and all say a nice little prayer before each race and as an added attraction we could invite the pope to be special guest of honour and get him to bless the shale.
jenga 2,998 Posted July 22, 2017 (edited) Somerset aren't even in our league. Why should they be holding our event? because its a great race track and it will not be postponed by stadium work ,pipes/electrics and other events that the speedway gives way to . but scunny is also a good track and more local for the championship teams . crescent girl 1,903 Posted July 22, 2017 The idea of a neutral venue further north has appeal for a re-staging, and the (very) obvious place would be Belle Vue, if a suitable date can be found. Somerset is and always will be perfect for the Pairs, but only on the night before a Cardiff GP, as the Championship is now a northern competition. Berwick quickly found that covering only the bends was futile, and have since perfected the art. l'm certain any club following their lead need only pick up the phone to be advised on the best way to go about the process.
New era Panthers 2,055 Posted July 22, 2017 i also think that running at another date will see a poor crowd With the backlog of fixtures as they are at the moment , it maybe best to cancel the event for this year rather than run at any track on an off peak day/ night which could incur losses with low attendance and only add to congested fixture list not forgetting rider availability would be another problem as you could finish with a totally different set of riders from those originally selected.
DSC67 1,465 Posted July 22, 2017 Somerset aren't even in our league. Why should they be holding our event? people have been complaining for years that shared events should be on a neutral track
jenga 2,998 Posted July 23, 2017 (edited) can anyone name a neutral track ? its almost imposable to name a neutral venue .. Edited July 23, 2017 by jenga
screm 8,049 Posted July 23, 2017 After the 2011 4`s meeting was abandoned the re-arranged fixture was moved to Leicester, maybe the same thing will happen here. Problem being its difficult seeing a free weekend for all Championship clubs.
ruffdiamond 6,115 Posted July 23, 2017 can anyone name a neutral track ? its almost imposable to name a neutral venue .. Buxton ? Good idea they could have had it there on the fri night or Sunday. There was a time when the whole weekend had a speedway tradition. Fri Somerset Pairs Sat Cardiff GP Sun afternoon Newport open meeting Sun evening Swindon open meeting But this has now ended. But we did get a lot of Australians turn up at Swindon on thurs who were then going to Cardiff and possibly Somerset. Edited July 23, 2017 by A ORLOV
scaramanga 893 Posted July 23, 2017 Somerset aren't even in our league. Why should they be holding our event? its not our event its a bspa event no such thing thease days as a neautral track as theres always 1 at least thats rode there as a home rider but why sholdnt any event that involves all or most the clubs be right down 1 end of the country im sure southern bassed clubs would soon start crying if thease events were held at either redcar or workington or even the the other 4 clubs further north
