Buster Chapman - Is He Good For The Sport?

Recommended Posts

My preferred option is as RPNYC says 3 for a Win, 1 for a Draw and nothing for Losing.

Straightforward and to the point. Dead easy and no reason for anyone to be confused. I think keeping things simple is the way to go, it is a simple Sport. Or it would be if the Rules weren't continually changed to suit one Track/Promoter or another.

Speedway isn't big on credibility sadly.

Sadly..

LEAGUE SCORING SYSTEMHome loss by any amount of points = 0Home draw = 1Home win by any amount of points = 3Away loss by 7 points or more = 0Away loss by 6 points or less = 1Away draw = 2Away win by between 1 and 6 points = 3Away win by 7 points or more = 4That alone is an illustration of how ridiculous British Speedway has become. Explain that to a new fan!!!

I have tried explaining it to a new fan and he got and its significance in straightaway, no,problem.

Speedwáy has enough genuine problems without people making up imaginary ones.

2 things... 1st off this is not a years old system for UK Speedway. Its yet another re jig. 2nd,most major sports have a one outcome for a win one outcome for a draw and one for a loss. Over here (US) they dont even have a result for a draw...

Anyway that is one small example of multiple problems there are with British Speedway

Do you consider rugby or cricket to be major sports?

At the side of Speedway, synchronised farting and cowpat throwing are major sports.

Everything Chapman has touched has turned to ratrubbish, Leicester and Lynn at the bottom of the league and his NL team collapsed within weeks of the start of the season.

None of it is his fault though, just bad luck?

The Aces dodged a bullet when the council decided Mr 10% was an idiot (not my words, lol!) and refused to allow him to run Belle Vue. They decided that no speedway in Manchester was a better option than letting Chapman run it which did appear to be a massive gamble at the time.

Looks like they got it right.

He needs to be voted out in the winter AGM with a vote of no confidence before he totally ruins the sport.

Personally don't think points system is something most people are that bothered about, problems are more fundamental than that people

2 points for a win, 1 point for a draw and a bonus point for overall aggregate win. In the event of a tie after two legs a match race between nominated riders to decide. It worked perfectly well before.

...on the other hand the TRACKSTAR organisation at King's Lynn appear more than satisfied about their relationship with Buster' Chapman.

I agree with that IF all of the newest BSPA rules / ideas for promoting the sport came solely from Buster? IF there was a general consensus in support of "the way forward" under Buster ,then the blame cannot be fully laid at his door for the apparently further decline in attendances and interest from the public. If it was a collective agreement then they are very short on ideas on how to halt that decline.

And then you'll finish up with the bloke who pulls his strings running the sport hmmmmm not sure at all. Chapman hasn't made all the decisions that haven't been totally successful despite everyone holding him responsible.
