Besides Somerset and Kings Lynn no other team has a recognised number one.

Of the  teams declared top riders I can only see Rye House and Belle Vue who have a worse top rider - i.e. number one - than us.

This is compounded even further when you take Jacob's away form into account.

What poor away form?.

His average was 7.55. Speedway star has him listed as 6th best away average, ahead of Andersen,  bjerre, Harris,  Schlein, Holder,  Masters,  Fricke, Kurtz,  Batchelor,  Nicholls, Lambert, King.

This supposed poor away form is a myth.

Cook is a better number 1 than Thorssel.

Completely subjective. Neither rode as a number one in 2017 and Thorssell finished with a higher average as both 2nd in averages.

The only plus in Cook's case is he rode mostly in a traditional heat leader role.

Holders 2015 average for Poole was pretty much on a par with what he achieved with Kings Lynn last year.

See that Matt Ford in todays Echo has offered the number 7 berth to James Shanes. If Shanes says no Josh Pickering will fit.

I think James would be a fool not to take it. Improved terms two nights of speedway way will certainly benifit him and make him as better rider. Should he say no, which would suprise me, Josh would be an able replacement.

Jan Graversen fits but I fully expect James Shanes will take up the offer.

I think this is called making a story for the sake of it.

I think Matt will wait for the Echo to get the Chelsea v AFC match preview and report out of the way (Weds/Thurs) before announcing Shanes!! :D:P

Perhaps Matt is just ensuring that the demands Shanes makes are realistic by putting it out there that other options are  still available....
