Buy it? Sure, someone would if it’s profitable. If it’s not, it would be down to Matt to give it to a benefactor.

Either way, let’s hope it goes to a true speedway enthusiast who cares about the bigger picture rather than sharp practice.

Bless.......!!

Just as a matter of interest, if Matt was to chuck it all in, aside from all those on here that would do the expected cheering whooping and generally pi$$ing themselves, who do you think would be in a position to buy the club - both financially and looking at speedway as a whole - or would people be happy for the club to just disappear?!

Serious question.

No one wants any club to close but it is a sport dying on its @rse -unless there is some radical surgery

NO and it's not what I am saying but riders chatter and mutter and word gets around. You have your ears to the ground. Glyn can only do so much with what he is presented with. The track needs a major overhaul, right down to the base. A top class racing circuit brings its own rewards but takes money and whether that sort of investment is seen as vital in the short term is obviously debatable at Poole. But one of those rewards is that riders are more attracted to a track that they enjoy riding. And that filters down in to all sorts of other areas.

John Louis once said there was only one line to ride at Poole which was  a half a yard off the fence

If it were me I'd put legal pressure on the Council who in turn do the same to Stadia UK to pay for the track to be 'sorted'. Matt only rents the stadium 'facilities' after all!!

Or maybe with the longer term redevelopment of the whole stadium site still on the Council planners' table (which may see a reconfigured track within a reconfigured facility?) maybe nobody is prepared to 'invest' a huge amount?!

Lets not forget Matt paid for turns 1 and 2 to be relaid before the season started and those improvements were readily agreed by the riders to give a smooth surface  - admittedly in hindsight it could have been done earlier with time to settle, but maybe Matt doesn't rent or have access to the facility between November and February? Why would he or anyone?

Good point Skidder, best person to ask is starman, more than likely having lunch with Mr Ford as I speak!!!

Depends what the terms of the lease are. It could be that the maintenance of the track is the Speedways clubs responsibility. I'm guessing that this is the case for Swindon, as the club supply all of the materials & the maintenance is done by a team of volunteers under Ronnie Russell. They have the use of a 2nd tractor supplied by a sponsor & the team maintain all of the equipment.

Matt:

“Lovely salad nicoise, Mike, but I’m looking for a bit of inspiration: Auty, Starke, Klindt, Baran .... which team would you pick?”

Starman:

“Swindon”.

After last night's showing, he'd do well to try and resurrect the Smolinski signing??
