Somerset V Belle Vue. 4.8.17.

Recommended Posts

Tungate at the track but unable to ride because of injuries sustained at Swindon last night. Somerset to win with ease, reserves will now have to cover two of Fricke's rides and all of Rohan's.

It's a pity we didn't know about Rohan earlier, we could then have had a guest either for him or for Max.

Edited to add that according to the Updates site Rohan can only be replaced by a reserve in one ride and there will only be 3 riders in his other rides.

Tungate out now :(

So taking into account Jack Smith's poor form , this basically is a 4 man team ?,

What a complete farce this sport as become , worrying days indeed

Perhaps fans should be given a refund because they not seeing a full show in action.

Its all getting worse.

I blame the twisting of the rules in years gone by. Every twist of a rule means rules get tighter such that there is no leaway when there is a genuine need.

Pretty pathetic IMO

It's the paying public that suffer yet again ,
In no way shape or form can this be now be classed as a competitive meeting

Absolutely ridiculous scenario

Why didn't Rohan just ring Lemo and say im not able to ride. Sounds like a Buster Champan influence

When you think of the hold up due to M-Way problems, fans will have made a huge effort if they get there at all, and then find that they not seeing what they thought they were going to see. Not good is it?

Thought Chapman said he was going to rip up the rule book and start again. Taking his time doing it.

Yeh, one page at a time, per week. Must be 52 page there.

Why travel all the way to Somerset only to pull out of a meeting? Surely Tungate must've known he'd struggle.

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and speculate that he was asked to as a suitable replacement couldn't be found.

If he made the decision to travel off his own back, then he's a fool

On Twitter this morning he said his leg was pretty bruised but that he would be ok. Maybe it started to feel worse later in the day.

Dont think Tungate would have wanted to miss this one tbh. In good form as well. Just bad luck for him and the Aces unfortunately. Looked like there was some good races though.

Where's he living this year? Last year he stayed with some of the Roobins in Swindon. If still there - not very far to Somerset.

Missing the point entirely with a geography lesson.

Driving to Somerset on a Friday is like no other day. Swindon to Somerset, is like Sheffield to Somerset with the congestion.

Seems like there was some exciting racing tonight...just a shame Belle Vue had a weakened team.

Speedway really is kicking itself in the nuts right now.

How many Somerset fans would say they are enjoying this season?

I look at Belle Vue coming to Somerset and see it as the equivalent of Bristol City at home to the mighty Man Utd...only in name and from history now though.

Nostalgia clouding reality.

Well don't start your post with "travelled all the way to Somerset" as it tends to cloud your point!

Wasn't really bothered about going this evening it's been such a long time since the last meeting I'm losing the buzz. But I went, there was some good racing but as a spectator I want to see 4 riders in a race, what a stupid rule in not allowing the reserves to take Rohan's rides. Ok rules are rules but it's only a matter of time before the paying public will get fed up of being mugged of. Was really impressed with Dan Bewley shame he took a while to get going.
