If it's the same Franchiti that was involved with Edinburgh speedway, he was/is a delusional narcissist. On the day after the Heysel tragedy he claimed to the local media that he was there... he wasn't.

This is still being discussed on Facebook. Keep checking the date thinking it must be 1st April. Apparently there will be a big announcement later this year

Neil has had his time in speedway , and now should be enjoying his retirement playing golf in Spain . Why would he get involved in something like this ?

Was wondering how old he would be?Wasn't he a promoter back in the 70s or was it later?Wasn't he related to the Templetons and/or Jimmy Mac?

He , along with Joe Thurley , opened and ran Paisley for the two seasons they ran in the mid seventies . And he was Glasgow promoter at Shawfield in the early nineties .

Neil must be in his mid seventies at least , but was looking fit and tanned when he visited Glasgow early in this season . Jimmy Mac was the Templeton's nephew , don't think Neil was a member of that family tree .

That was at the Newcastle Diamonds meeting at Ashfield, and I agree he looked very tanned and fit. He is a very good golfer and used to play in many big pro-ams, and I think he left the Manchester area to live in Spain. Always liked money, and after he quit speedway he was a financial adviser.

This announcement seems to have failed to catch the imagination. Is it going to happen?

Doubt it very much. :neutral::neutral:

The thread on Neil Macfarlane Facebook page suggested October with first meeting in April 2018.

didn't the Courtneys try something like this and were stopped. Would imagine same would happen here.

would take absolutely boatloads of cash to make riders go against BSPA/ Poland/FIM and be banned thereafter - would you risk it??
