Relegation And Promotion Play Offs

Recommended Posts

the people who matter in speedway The paying public , have not been crying out for fixed nights , they have been crying out for weekly meetings on their traditional racenight ,whichever of the 7 that happens to be ,

When I referred to the 'Sport' was crying out , it was in relation to all the people, be it The Fans, The Riders, and the clubs............. Bit like the Chicken and Egg scenario, The paying public wanted to watch the Top Riders, but the top riders wanted the fixed race nights. It was idiotic to believe those top riders would continue to ride in our leagues when the fixture schedule varied most days of the week. Fixed night racing would have helped in keeping those top riders racing here. keeping the Paying public happy.

Now, when all those riders have long gone, the Paying Public can have their speedway on whichever day it happened to be , but they won't be watching them Top riders....

Last time they had promotion relegation there was a get out clause which meant both clubs could elect where they rode the following year if they did not like the result !!!!!

Same clause will be included this time too.Complete farce.

FIXED race nights for the PL is not solely about getting some of the so-called top riders back, although that could be a possibility. It is because in the eyes of many promoters doubling up is a necessity and that fixture clashes have to be avoided between the two senior domestic leagues in the UK.

Was speaking to Belle Vue's Mark Lemon on Saturday and he says most of his time is spent trying to arrange fixtures and to get his seven riders together.

THEY have also been crying out for their riders to be available for their team when they have a meeting.

Quite correct, sir

So, only those 100% committed to our calendar should be engaged

Look back at a season filled with:

Early season "challenges" eg Britannia Shield

Full league programme of 18 team league

Proper KO Cup competition

Regional mini leagues eg Midland League

Each track, one individual meeting eg Brandonapolis

Regional championship rounds, plus final eg Midland Riders Championship

Sufficient racing in a season for the riders, consistent race nights, ability of fans of the sport to attend other tracks*

* I used to be able when younger and fitter to be able to attend Perry Barr, Blackbird Road and Brandon virtually every week throughout the season, adding in occasional trips to Monmore Green, Abbey Stadium and Owlerton

Speaking from personal experience trying to rearrange fixtures during the season which enables both teams to track full 1-7,s is practically impossible because of doubling up/down, foreign commitments, FIM meetings, grasstrack, and other reasons illness/family etc.

It’s clear from speaking to other clubs and the comments from others in the star everyone is in the same boat, splitting the Premiership and Championship will help significantly but it won’t solve everything.

In 39 matches Panthers have tracked

Their full 1-7 - 13 times

R/R. - 5 times

1-7 with Guests. - 9 times

Guests & R/R. - 12 times

SHEFFIELD: Scott Nicholls, Todd Kurtz, Lasse Bjerre, Josh Bates, Kyle Howarth, Jan Graversen, Georgie Wood.LEICESTER: Kim Nilsson, Lewis Kerr, Pawel Przedpelski, Erik Riss, Danny King, Cameron Heeps, Kyle Newman.

Pawel Przedpelski, is not riding so I assume it's RR for him.

You only have to look at those reserves to see the disparity. How can an original 40 point team beat a 50 point team? If Sheffield now have, say, a 46 point team average they should be allowed to swap Wood for a Plus 4 pointer.

How does one differentiate the two leagues when the same riders ride in both. Surely that is the recipe for disaster. Why not have one league, double the number of fixtures, to enable each club having fixtures every week, and eliminate D/D altogether.

If the powers want the sport to survive in this country, surely in would be more feasible to run the sport for the benefit paying fans, then arrange the rules to double the riders earning potential. We all know as soon as they are good enough they will desert us for pastures new....

When you look at the line-up, it seems Leicester aren't really interested, maybe Saturday nights in the Championship are more appealing?

But if it’s the same riders in both leagues how can you make it all one big league, where do the extra riders come from?

Why - what's wrong with the Leicester line up ? Nilsson, King, Riss and Newman all Lions whilst guests needed for Bjerre and Bates as per rules and R/R for Przedpelski was always on the cards

Kerr and Heaps on the face of it reasonable guests for two missing riders ....

??

This is the biggest farce in British speedway. We really dont need these meetings.

Second leg now next Monday due to poor weather forecast on Wednesday as per Leicester website.

It's a bit of a strange date for Leicester fans attending as Leicester city are playing at home to West Brom live on Sky Sports

Around 250 senior professional riders currently registered. Around 120 riders have ridden in PL & CL, enough for 17 full teams.
